Heya! New to this forum, but certainly not to metroid! Main reason I joined is that I plan on releasing a massive Super Metroid hack but... I seriously lack technical knowledge and programming one. Before you cast my project on doubts because of the lack of this kind of knowledge I have to say... just wait and see how is it gonna be. It's not be finished shortly though. I have written down countless ideas and have drawn places with a main idea to follow ofc. And that is a hack based on the idea of following the SM's success as far as we're speaking of atmosphere, a thing most hacks totally lack. Not to get in details though I would request your help over time if that's possible. To begin with where can I find a good SMILE tutorial?
Check the SMILE help thread, there is tonnes of info there. I think you'll find that people can't help but to cast doubt on the project simply because there have been SO MANY people who have made plans for a hack but never released anything. In fact, I think it's less than 1% who actually carry through with it. That said, I sincerely hope that you do finish it because it has been a long time since anything good has gone on in terms of SM hacks. Good luck and welcome!
Hi & Thx Opium for your help! Excuse my noobishnes on browsing through here, tried what to search for smile help but it came up with far too many threads having to do directly or indirectly with what I searched. So I'm gonna look up in detail, not to bother ya!
I asked for info on a smile guide first so I wouldn't become annoying asking from the start for everything but what you provide is no less valuable, been actually searching for such much needed programs and with the guide I became familiar with nearly every aspect of the editor. Easy one, ain't it actually? Thanks mate! I'll be sure to include all of you in the credits of my massive hack, LOL!
No problem. That whole section contains guides for almost everything that's currently possible to edit, and is worth a read when you get some spare time. Some of it will no doubt sound like gibberish (some of it still does!), but a lot of it is easier to understand than you'd think.
Hi, I'm Landen. I've been a 'Troidaholic since about '05. I've been lurking in the forums for a few years, made an account a long time ago, forgot about it, and made another one just a few weeks ago. And, today is the first day of my freshman year in college.
