Watch it before Nintendo's ninjas take it down!

Guy really needs to learn to record a monitor better. Also, where did the guy manage to record this? Sounds like a lot of people were in there.

It would also be nice to be able to know what Samus was saying towards the beginning xD

Pretty epic intro though, IMO

Probably recorded at the demo room of Nintendo's Press Conference Event Thing.

GODDAMN THAT MONOLOGUE SUCKS BALLS
One shall stand, one shall ball.
The writing was pretty lol. That along with the voice acting suited the Battlefield Earth filming technique quite nicely.
Nice magical girl transformation scene! Could have been worse, though.
Anywhere, everywhere
Think there'll be a plot point revealing how she magically got that mole?
One shall stand, one shall ball.
The mole is actually Adam.
The setup of the battle itself was pretty cool with seeing MB up close and personal from Samus's viewpoint, but not sure about her voice and the dialogue just yet.
Sounds like she said 'Why am I still alive?' and then 'Maybe...'

Perhaps they are going to add some twist or detail to the ending of super.  Maybe something is going on when the baby metroid transfers it's power to samus, something that they are going to build a lot of story upon.  I actually stopped watching it after about 1:30 and I REALLY wish that I hadn't watched it.  I consider it to be a spoiler.  This makes me want to not click on any Other M topics at all until after the game comes out.  I would really hate it if I sat down to play this game for the first time and wasn't surprised by ANYTHING  :(.

i think the mole looks cool actually. also really like samus's voice - very emotionless and almost robotic which is exactly what i would have expected from a person subjected to solitude for so long and so often. it's like she's forgotten how to associate with other human beings.

Opium, since this is just the intro video it won't ruin anything for you that the game won't ruin for you when you first turn it on.

i felt the same way, if she is a battle hardened lone wolf, she can't look at the camera and say "WHAZZAP?!"

Bettle hardned lone wolf.

LOL The game itself can't 'ruin' anything for you.  If that were the case then everything would always be ruined, and we should never play any game because we would be ruining things by playing them.

Exactly? That's what I'm saying, since this is the intro (the very first thing you see when you turn the game on/start a new game) it won't ruin anything for you. Unless you like watching the intro for the first time as soon as you turn the game on for the first time, which I can understand too, but it doesn't seem like you were implying that in your first post.

Please explain how one makes a living as a bounty hunter that apparently pals around with soldiers pretty often without knowing how to associate with people. You'd have a basic idea just from exposure unless you were autistic or something.

There's no need to justify terrible voice acting in video games, it's expected.

she only started hanging around federation soldiers recently. there was none of that in the previous games. fuck retconning, my idea of samus is all that matters.
I like the Super Metroid flashback and pretty much everything else.
Am I gonna have to listen to that annoying voice throughout the entire game?

For a game that seems so focused on story, the writing is pretty terrible. Otherwise though it was pretty cool.
I clicked play with massive skepticism, but that was farking sweet.

Until Hunters and Corruption, she was a bounty hunter in name only, hired to do wetwork by the intergalactic feds.
I'm still wondering if Nintendo is holding back a surprise and will actually let us fight against Mother Brain in that segment after Samus fires the Hyper Beam at her, because it seems like the perfect spot to switch over from cutscene to gameplay. Would be insanely cool to have that as the game's opening on top of the cutscene itself, but there's also a part of me saying that it would never happen.

But I can dream, right?

Oh, and as far as the voice overs go, there's someone in the youtube video's comments that claims these are simply placeholders created by the staff for the purpose of the demo. (Apparently heard it on some IGN podcast when they were talking with one of the devs and they heard his voice in the game or something and started making fun of it because of how bad it was.) If that's true, we won't have to worry about it in the end and hopefully they'll be better. They didn't seem that bad based on the E3 trailer last year though.

Here's the comment I found by the way:
Quote:
Ign Podcast confirmed with the comment that in the demo one of the staff voices was part of the demo when they talked to him they notices the voices and they were making fun of the fact that the voices were terrible... go and listen to the podcast..
*fingers crossed for Jennifer Hale*

You'd think that, seeing as voice is more important than ever in this one, they'd hire her again for Samus. She's not only done it before, but she's arguably the top female VO for video games right now. Plus, it's what the fans are craving. Can't see how Nintendo would pass her up with those three things in mind.

But they've done stranger things before...

Like making Metroid in First-person.

Wink
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
Samus is closer to a mercenary than what we consider a bounty hunter. Nintendo doesn't really consider her to be a Bobba Fett type, and the whole 'bounty hunter' thing was kind of a cultural misunderstanding in the first place.
