As a disclaimer: I don't know if anybody's seen/done this before, but I recently figured it out, and it's pretty damn cool. Not too useful, though.
Required items: Morphing Ball, Hi-Jump Boots
I call this trick "Ledge Hopping." (Feel free to think of a better one
)
Essentially, what you need to do is find an area that only the morphing ball could fit through. Try the big room in Chozodia by the exit to Crateria - the one with the Super Missile pack. Get to the area just below where you find the pack. There should be a small vertical passage, with a chunk out of the right side for use with the Power Grip. I like my way better.
Basically, get into a ball and jump up to the right wall, holding right. Be sure to hold in the A button after you jump. With both of these factors present, as soon as samus touches the ledge, she immediately jumps higher up the passageway. Try it out for yourself. I estimate you could save approx 1.2 whole seconds using this method to get that particular Super Missile.
Like I said, I haven't found too many uses for it, but it sure looks cool.
By the way, feel free to make a video of yourselves using it; I have no access to such means. Just thought I'd share.
