Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
I'm apparently getting to predictable with teasers. I'll have to fix that somehow. But I'm sure this movie's not going to be disappointing regardless. :)
Merry Christmas to you, too, Kejardon. This is the best Christmas present ever.
I guess this is my first real post here. I'm from over at the GameFAQs Super Metroid board. I'm sure I've talked to you at least once there, though you may not remember me.
WOW, that WAS amazing. did you add in those thought clouds in the game as well? or was that done in post? Frigging awesome grapple swing with the speed booster!
One technichal critique: When you "fish" (which was awesome!) the grapple beam didn't come from samus' canon anymore. and it didn't seem like the actualy ate it =P

I remember you, Cauchy's Inequality. :P

Those aren't in the game, they were added in via t@b's ZS4. The grapple beam intentionally comes from Samus's torso. She can turn around and fire weapons while the grapple beam is attached, so it makes more sense to not be in her cannon anymore. And for the first scene, that was purely random silliness - I'm not adding fishing to the game. :P
Possible to drag and throw enemies with the grapple beam
Possible to unmorph and keep your speed
Speed grappling
Possible to change direction in the air without losing speed?!
Grapple beam does nothing to frozen enemies
Did anyone spot anything else?
Edit: Ok, let me try to see what else I can see.
The length of the grapple beam is displayed under the icon, and is increased by pressing up
Possible to appear briefly on the other side of the screen when moving too fast for it to catch up, while grapple swinging :P
Speed seems to continue to increase, even though you already have echoes, so no/higher speed cap
Plus what Sigfriedxx mentioned about where the beam comes from.
Edit2: While comparing with normal Super Metroid, I found some odd behavior with the grapple beam there. By shooting the grapple beam, and then quickly aiming in various directions, one can keep the beam shooting out indefinitely. Not very useful, though.

I'm going to have to neg the last one. That's a bug in the original game actually, one that I really don't intend to fix. Switching direction throws forward momentum to backwords momentum, and causes Samus to start slowing down. Switching direction AGAIN does not return momentum to forward, and so Samus will instantly change direction of motion. It's just that Samus had a ridiculous amount of momentum and kept flying around for a long time before slowing down.
And the grapple beam has been ENTIRELY reprogrammed. Every bit of code of it has been redone, so there are a lot of small changes to see. There are plenty of noteworthy things you haven't mentioned yet.
It will be very interesting to see what results can be gotten from TASing the game after I have learned all the mechanics of it.
Unmorphing with no momentum loss is just wonderful since it would mean you can jump to higher or lower ledges do a mockball unmoprh and keep running without ever loosing your acquired speed.
Awesome. Would I be correct in assuming that you reprogrammed the entire physics engine and will use it as an excuse to insert a lot of HL2-esque puzzles?
Also, are you going to bother adding code to make sure that the Samus sprite doesn't wrap around the screen (see 1:10 in the video)?
You know... I seriously thought about a hack where Samus could run from doing a mockball. And the other thing (I might as well mention it while I'm spilling the beans) is when the door transitions to the next room... It's much much faster. So, did you (*suedo) steal that idea from me too?
Edit: I forgot to mention. I've gotton into the habit of holding the fast forward key whenever I pick up an item or upgrade. In this hack I'd (like to) eliminate the wait. Or the black screen would be tranparent while the action still goes on! No stopping in moving or in the music. Except maybe for suit upgrades.
For reals people. I would've called it: Super Metroid - Murcury. Like the Greek God Murcury - who is swift and fast.
*=It was obvious :P And at least somebody made it... That Could. And now I don't have to wait... well... I'll still have to wait, just not as long.
That song at the end... It's used by Benny Hill, but it's actually: Yakety Sax.
