i'm sure it can be done faster, especially if the third bomb is placed higher. i can't really think of any uses in a tas. i'm fairly certain single wall jumping is faster where a wall is available, even if only because you jump as high as you can to start it (whereas you have to start from the ground with bomb jumping).

Ha ha.  I'll give my soul to anybody who can perform that on a GBA. aiwebs_011

no sequence breaking allowed:

actually, i can jump at the start of it and this might be faster than single wall jumping (i'll test it some other day).

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I am suddenly reminded of gu3st's bomb jump possible topic...

This is really clever, though. While I doubt it could ever be any faster than swj, and there will almost certainly be no real use for it (none that I can think of), there still is a Fusion hacking community to think of...
Well sheesh. Nintendo serisouly doesn't want you to SB in Fusion.

actually, i'm pretty sure it's faster than single wall jumping in that example of arc i posted, i'm just too lazy to test it atm.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Even if you pulled it off, and truly sequence broke the game, wouldn't you still fall foul of the item order, where it gives you something messed up, like doors unlocked? Eh?

For bragging rights only, it'd be pretty cool! grin new
Things like this make me wonder if it blows Nintendo's mind when they see how hard people try to break their games.

We only do it through love, though, so we get away with it. aiwebs_011

You gotta hit it just right, like Fonzie.

fixed. at least it seems that's true for fusion now.

It is dangerous to go alone! Besides, if performing TAS-only tricks on my Micro isn't considered breaking the game, I might as well give up now.
Time bomb set get out fast!
Spark, that is frickin' insane.  My mind is as blown as when Ekar found single-wall jump.  (...You're not gonna quit now, right?)

Yep.  event++ is unbreakable.  Nintendo had complete trust in their ability to keep the player in sequence, so they didn't bother coding for getting stuff early.

In programming, we call this "no exception handling" and look upon it with scorn.  But the hell of it is, they were right.  Except for a couple of early PB tanks and some tricks you can only do in a TAS, Fusion's sequence is rock-solid.  They'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for us meddling kids.

never. i have no plan of leaving. and yeah, nintendo made fusion pretty unbreakable.

I would call that effectively breaking the game, what happens if you get plasma early? (Or atleast I believe it was plasma, It's been awhile since i've played fusion) Or space jump?
Mister ...
I know TAS'ing here is serious business, but any chances we'll see a whole run where it's just breaking things like we just saw with P.J's video?  Fusion is a pretty solid game which is why it would be fun to see a broken run of it, so I'm not sure if it would happen.

you can't get any items early. if you try to, it will usually say something about a security door being unlocked and nothing will happen.

nn: i was planning at one time to make an early items tas which would get every item as early as possible and highlight some other interesting things about fusion. i may get around to it this summer.
What'd you say?
Looking forward to it.  Wink

Awesome, BioSpark.  I have something to look forward to then.

Count me in too.  Hell, I'll bring the beer.

Actually, now that I think about it, there may be certain times when you could theoretically have Nettori give you an item, but only when you were supposed to fight another boss that would have resulted in a normal Core-X battle at the end, and you would get the item you were supposed to get. For example, you might be able to fight Nettori instead of Zazabi and still get Hello Jump. I might test this out later (or rather have PJ try it), but from what I've seen of the item-giving routine in Fusion, it should work.
nope, i'm sure that won't work. it always says something about a security door being unlocked if you get an item early.
