The game does not "DISINTEGRATE" at the end. Far from it--it has the best ending sequences of any Metroid game I've played.

The triumphant feel when you've snuck around the mother ship and located your suit, and the remixed music kicks in even louder and faster as you take out all the pirates easily--what a rush.

It was a fascinating direction for a Metroid game to take for a brief portion of the game.
