You'd think, wouldn't you? The Tourian metroids are the only thing in the game you actually need the ice beam for, though. Every other "need" of the ice beam can be worked around, though. In fact, the only beam upgrades needed at all are the ice beam, and the unknown item which is a beam. All the rest can be worked around. If it wasn't for this little reminder, I'd probably miss the ice beam in my own sequence-breaking run.
