Well..?

The reason I didn't beat it was because my file got erased.. :\

I got up to around phazon mines, where you gotta backtrack and come back to the mines..

Well you can, why should you not? I mean I did not beat Metroid 1 and 2 and could beat Super, so.

Yeah, I can't think of anything involving story that is really needed from Prime anyway... I don't see anything wrong with beating Echoes first. :D It's just that the experience of playing Prime helps out a bit, but even those who played Prime back to front many times stumbled a bit:
Mainly at the Boost Guardian most of the time...

Yeah, it might be a little difficult had you not had the experience from the first one.  Hell, it's a little difficult if you have experience from the first one...

Actually, the game checks your memory card for a completed save file from the first game. If there isn't one, it makes loud, screeching noises and says, "YOU CANNOT PLAY!!!!!!!11!1!1! BUY PRIME FIRST!!1!!!!!11!" With the 1s and all, even. It's kinda weird.
But the worst part comes immediately after. At this time, it displays a choice list. The choices are "Buy Prime and play that" and "Play Echoes anyway". If you select the first, then the cube just shuts off and won't turn on again until you beat Prime. If you select the second, it says, "INCORRECT ANSWER" and shuts off, and then actually sets fire and explodes.
Pissed me off terribly because I had my brother's memory card in by accident, and now I don't have a cube.

I love that game. It matches my complex mind. I hate how noone connects it with crono trigger though,
even when Lavos and Schala show up.
