Fusions pretty meh to me, it was my first Metroid game, but then I got Prime and learned of sequence breaking, then I played Metroid 1, MZM, ROS, Prime 2, and Super. After that I can't say I like Fusion as much as the others. I still stand by the fact that if Fusion wasn't a Metroid game, I'd like it more.
You could replace Sess, y'know. Of course, we do need a replacement, considering.
Fusion was the first Metroid I got. I was hooked on it from day 1. I probably completed it about 40 times, my any% record time being 1:14. Then I got all the other Metroid games, and Fusion began to gather dust for a while. I'll probably start playing again so I can beat my fastest time.
I heart fusion. It was the first game I've played with the metroid title (note I don't say it's a metroid game :P). People always put it down because it's not really the same kind of game as the others were and it had very little to do with metroids, besides the cameos and the plot twist at the end (there were metroids there all along!). Maybe you'd have to call it a fan-game made by professionals as opposed to a metroid game, but that doesn't make it crappy.
Strangely enough, I tried to get back into M1 and ZM, and both of them I just quit because I was too worried about speeding through and completely ignoring my damage and not actually enjoying the game enough to get back into it. With fusion, I still try to go fast, but I'm pretty much forced to take my time with it, and for some reason worry less about the clock. I also feel I'm getting better at using R to fire charged beams while spin-jumping, which I believe can save a fraction of a second in time or a few frames of spineshark delivery. Maybe it was the fact that I haven't played in such a long time or something, I don't know. But I might end up eventually beating my crappy any% time (or 1% time for that matter) of 1:15 by a few (like 16 or so) minutes.
Fusion's okay, I've beaten a few times, but always as 100% (and never lower than two hours :?)... My first and favorite Metroid was Super, than I got I got the newer ones (including a dreaded Player's Choice version of Prime), and somewhere in it all also came the first two, which I have yet to actually seriously attempt.
Fusion tops as my favourite of all the Metroid games. The Space station setting is really smooth and enyoying. The first time I played It got abit creepy sometimes with the SA-X lurking around, epecially with the Soundtrack wich is quit chilling. I've gotten 100% and have beaten it several times, its a great game.

I probably will never replace Sess because he found glithes only gods could find (the TRO trap). But then again I am pretty good with runs. Except the fact that I lack a good joypad and a gameboy player.
Btw, what is the fastest possible time to beat fusion, even with save states? I know that at least 0:46 is possible.
Well I'm sure he's gone too, and I'm sure that's not a self-portrait or anything so he probably owns no copyrights to it. Have at it. Don't need my permission.
I dont think you should because people will be going through the forums, see that avitar and say OMG SESS IS BACK!!!!! Then they'll get pissed when they find out it isnt.
Then, by all means, use it somewhere (even here would be perfectly fine, though I don't think that many users would be too happy). It's not owned by Sess, as I don't think he created it.
