My best 100% time doesn't want to go below 1:26 unless I do something to my route.  I've looked at the SDA 100% route and I don't care for it, what with all the HBJing and such.  Does someone have a link to a <1:26 100% run that doesnt have alot of HBJing ?  I'm open to suggestions.  Here's my current order:

long Beam
missiles
bombs
charge beam
power grip
ice beam
hi jump
speed booster
super missiles (brinstar blue shaft)
varia
screw attack
wave beam
power bombs

thanks in advance for any help
Thread title:
I don't think your time is going to get much better than that until you implement bomb jumps. Think about all the extra steps you need to do to get these items. After bombs, you delay collecting the missile and energy tank higher up in brinstar. You delay collecting speed booster after finishing brinstar because you want power grip and ice beam first. Because you don't have speed booster on crateria, you can't get super missiles (although, for your current route, this isn't too problematic for you - you just have two fewer super missiles for Tourian) You don't want to go through deeper Norfair without Varia, so, while you're in Brinstar, you go all the way back up there, instead of delaying that trip for the Brinstar clean-up before Tourian. There's allot of waste here. Also, off the top of my head, there are a number of expansions you can only collect on this route with the fully powered suit because you didn't collect them "as early as possible", which further cuts into your time.

There's not many suggestions I can make. I usually collect Charge Beam immediately after Missiles, since the pseudo screw attack helps in the Brinstar shaft (both on the way up and down) and I feel makes the insect hives go faster (although I don't know this for a fact). Also, I'm not sure if you're getting Varia out of convenience or not, but you don't actually need it, since the game automatically gives it to you when you get your fully-powered suit.

I can't think of much else right now. You may be able to cut your time a little more, but you're not going much further without bomb jumps. Period. If you're adamant against bomb jumping, one suggestion that immediately pops out at me is delaying hi-jump until you get speed booster. That requires shifting around a few missile and super missile pickups and defeating that flying bug with regular missiles early on, but it may offset the time required to get hi-jump in the first place. It's close; I'm leaning toward "no", but it may work. For you, this also means going through Norfair without Varia and the pickups from up there, but you shouldn't need more than a single energy recharge.

You're confusing diagonal bomb jumping for horizontal bomb jumping. To DBJ, all that's different from an IBJ is that you're holding one direction the entire time. HBJ is much tougher, as you specifically need to NOT gain any height. It's only really useful in skipping ziplines in a Kraid First run. I don't remember the current best 100% route, but the vast majority of the bomb jumping in general isn't that tough. I guess the current route uses that HBJ, but skipping ziplines probably doesn't save more than a minute.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, Paltheos, you misspelled "a lot." "Allot" has a completely different meaning.
