It's too bad that it's not getting the attention it deserves, it really is very good. People just might have been expecting the huge innovation prime 1 had, which would be nigh impossible to replicate. Maybe once I get my full logbook route for this game done, it'll bring back a little life, but I dunno.
Filmed the Gandrayda segment (finally!), first part leads up to the boss and the second part's the boss itself. Gandrayda fight was approximately 3:41 long, better than I expected it to be.
i agree tjp, im really glad to see some vids besides mine and the few paraxade has up even if they aren't top of the line speedwise. I just really like to see different people's playing styles to see what i can learn.
:( i cant make vids... and congradulations, i played the game today for the first time in 6 months. AND, i died instantly, p. ridley is really freakin hard on hyper.
It is a bit interesting that the lack of major SB's has killed the running of this game, considering that Fusion has literally no sequence breaks, but this didn't keep people from finding plenty of scope within it for speedruns and various other challenges that are impressive to watch.
Got the one after that encoding, though I'm a bit stuck on pirate commander. I think I have a way to beat him though, by hp glitching fully (+100 hp) to enable 3 hyper mode attacks instead of the regular 1-2.
The strat for Pirate Commander that I've used is to screw attack around the room, going hyper during screw attacks, so you can't get hurt. When the Commander goes hyper, he starts teleporting a lot less, so start blasting him with the Phazon Beam at that point and try to kill him with one Hypermode use. Get his refill and use it to kill some of the Commandos, then kill the rest with X-ray + Nova.
Me too have some trouble beat pirate commander my veteran 22% run it took me most deaths. I can feel it is very hard on hyper. Good luck. Hyper 22% is always awesome.
Still have to film Pirate Commander, but I'm feeling confident about it. Can't believe after that there's just Valhalla, Ridley and Phaaze left, definitely going to be sub 3:30.
I'm also considering re-doing a lot of my earlier segments so the optimization level of the run is more consistent.
Edit: Pirate Commander got owned, though encoding will take all day >_>
yeah, good luck with ridley. im on hyper with 96% (remaining 4 reguired the hyper grapple, or whatever) and all e tanks. still have yet to get him below 25% health after 10 tries.
So you just finished facing Omega Ridley, right? What do you have left and what's your current time?
I'm asking because I'm about to start up my first 22% hypermode run and I'm curious to see what I'm up against. Either way, it's been a LONG time since I've really played this much, so I know I'm going to be really rusty regardless.
I just beat Omega Ridley. My current time now is 3:15, I'll probably finish with something like 3:35-3:40, depending on how long phaaze takes.

You'll have no trouble beating my run time-wise if you really tried. I didn't even use spring sj timesavers until Bryyo, and even when I did, I still missed plenty of tricks like in hangar bay and gel refinery.
Edit: Just reached phaaze at 3:24. Unfortunately, the Ridley segment takes about 8 hours to encode, so my next 3 segments won't be up until late today/early tomorrow. Still, I'm excited to be so close to the end, I can't wait to take on the aurora unit with one energy tank.
Oh, not that many. I experimented for about 15 tries, and got my segment in 44 mins, which is about what it usually takes for most segments. Ridley's not hard at all, just takes very long to beat. The main issue is not making mistakes because one hit removes all the hp you got from the ever so important hp glitch. You also have to use the grapple to gain hp back, otherwise the fight would literally take an hour to beat.
