Hurting Gorea with the Power Beam?

I saw the end of a speed run, where the player was hurting Gorea's shoulders with the Power Beam at the start of the fight. I didn't know this was possible! What's going on? Does it only work at certain times?

Hmm. It works on my game, but it doesn't do much damage. It doesn't seem to matter what colour he is, either...

Maybe it's a version thing. How do I check my version number? Apparently the shadow freeze doesn't work in some versions... I'm pretty sure I couldn't get it to work against 1* bots, but then they run around all the time...

So how do I check my version number?

Does the fact that I can hurt Gorea with the Power Beam mean that I have an early version, or a late version?

I thought there weren't any known version differences in Hunters. Running a forum search seems to verify that.

i cant do any damage to any part of gorea with the power beam.
i think that clarifies that there are some version difs, or that no 2 games are programed the same.

Kebab, surely! In normal English, anyway...

Where were we? Oh yeah, version differences. There's a FAQ on GameFAQs that says if you're running version 3.0 or higher, the Shadow Freeze won't work. However, I haven't read this anywhere else. Does anyone know if there's a way to check the version number? I couldn't get the SF to work, but bots run around far too much... I wish I could set the bots to, like, 0 stars (stay still for target practice...) which would also be good for finding things like the Deathalts where they're hidden. It took me ages to find the Ice Hive one, but that damn 1* bot kept finding it easily!

Shadow freezing is when you, as either Noxus or the Prime Hunter, fire a charged Judicator at the floor, or at an angle (depending on whether the target is on your level or above / below you). By doing that, you can increase vastly the range of the freeze attack. I have never done it myself, so maybe someone else can give a better description.

You can also fire it up in the air, for a freeze attack that goes further than the standard attack, but not as far as the shadow freeze, but it's wider as well. Therefore, if your target is on your level and a medium distance away, that's meant to be better, apparently...
