Another place I usually do a wall jump into mid-air morph is when I get the missles in that Green-Brinstar area that leads to Red-Brinstar.  ...Yes.  In the Original Metroid (again).

In Cliffhanger (from watching the vid) The part where you need to wall-jump and then go into a HBJ to get to a platform....  That (platform) can just be IBJ'd up to from the bottom - Right?

Or should I wait to find out?  I mean, if it spoils anything....  then nevermind.  :-)

Just a heads up, I'll be looking for a beta tester soon for the easy version.
However I'll need a tester that is, err.. not so good at advanced moves.
The goal is to see if a moderate player can do it.

I'm interested.  The extent of my techniques are Speedball, mid-air morph from a walljump, and IBJ.  If those are too advanced for your easy testing, then that's fine, I'll pass.
Hmm...release date set dmantra? I'm almost done testing my hack, and I don't want to release it the same day as yours.  Very Happy
If you want a mediocre player, I could test.  I can't IBJ (at least not with any consistency), I can mock and speedball, but only where I have some room for error, and my grapple beam skills are so-so.  I'm not terrible, as I have finished some semi-hard hacks like Limit, Redesign and Golden Dawn, but I gave up on Impossible pretty early on.
Jagger ftw
you talking about emulator or real, cause in the real one, I can't do more than 4 wall jump in a roll, but in the emulator, I can do it all day long

Thats really strange, maybe its your controller?
You can't play hacks on "the real" unless you use a flashcart, which I don't think extremely many people are able to do.

right I as wondering what he uses for controller when he plays using emu, because he should be able to wall jump continuously on either
Walljumping is easier to do consistently with a keyboard, since you have no real risk of accidentally hitting up or down.
I'm not sure about my answer to the topic; I know I can midair morph after a walljump pretty easily (including having to walljump multiple times, and move fairly quickly before a shotblock reforms), but I've never tried it under dangerous conditions.
I'm completely mediocre at this game... I'd love to play test it, but I wouldn't have enough time to devote to it. :(
Then you can't playtest it can you?
I was saying I'd like to but don't have time. Not complicated.
Jagger ftw
That is exactly what am talking about.

Its hard to wall jump in with snes/game cube controllers, but its easy as hell with a keyboard.

I've never even attempted to play with a keyboard.  When it cames to game controllers, I think metroid is much better with a Dpad versus a joystick.
Everything else about the game is quite a bit harder with a keyboard =P it's just walljumping that's easier. With enough practice it's easy with a controller too, you just need to be careful about not press up or down. That's what used to mess me up.

For some reason I still haven't bought a controller.  I actually have to switch to my laptops keyboard (opposed to this comfortable external one) to do any sensitive movement.  I do this for mockballs, low-height midair morphs, and hbj.  I also have to for crystal flashing, for some reason this keyboard allows for fewer simultaneous presses than required.
I agree on the walljumping.  I play with a keyboard and I'm far better at walljumping than I ever was on console.  Mockball I'm less consistent, although I've gotten much better.  If you play with a keyboard enough it's not so bad.

I believe macros exist for a reason. =3

Man, I'm terrible with a controller. The SNES controller just wasn't designed for the player to be within comfortable, IMMEDIATE-immediate reach of three buttons at once. Also, mockball's easier with keyboard IMO, since you don't have to roll your thumb to the right. It's hard to do that fast.

R for Run works fine and I found it pretty easy to adjust to. I had even gotten used to Y B A before that and did fine with it, but using R is probably superior.

The cool thing about the SNES controller for me is that I could turn it upside down and use my fingers on the buttons instead of my thumbs, placing th e bottom of the controller on my palms.  I also used to play NES that way.

I currently use a logitech controller and have RUN set to L1

Grow manly hands  :P

But seriously, just put your thumb diagonally

Mine can press all 3 buttons at the same time and I have small hands (for a guy)
