If I had any say there wouldn't be any polls since 98% of the time they're used incorrectly.

But then it'd be stupid not to have polls since you're trying to sell taiga to people who like lame shit like polls, so whatever.

i see the "+ poll" button here but not there where I want to create poll (community/social > gaming)

hmm never thought about that before.

at any rate, you'll need to click "New topic" at the bottom of the page, then check the "Poll" checkbox.
