I really love these little history lessons, even if I as around for a lot of it... I just saw it from a different side of the fence, that last Irc conversation with Marie was crazy.

added to the first post a picture of me in my mom's office capturing the first runs from vhs (december 2003). i'm actually looking at irc in the picture with the capture going on in the background. the box from one of the tapes is to the left of the monitor and the vcr i ended up using (my dad's, vintage 1984) is on the floor in the lower right corner. the computer was a power mac g4 "quicksilver" dual 1 ghz and the capture device was a dazzle "hollywood" dv bridge (firewire 400 interface). i used imovie to capture and to export to mpeg-4 video (320x240, 29.97 fps).
