Does this seem as weird to you?
Yeah, I wet myself when I first saw it. (8)
No, I wet myself 'cuz of somethin' else. (3)
No, I just assumed your suit was indestructable until you lossed all your energy. (13)
Yeah, it should have blown up the station and made the game a lot shorter. (15)

You go down the elevator to the habitat area, and the entire left wall blows up. The SA-X enters, looks pretty for the camera, poses for after the credits, turns back, and jumps over the elevator. Then it blows up the hatch and walks through. Later on, you get the bombs, leave the data room, here explosions and the SA-X walking away. You investigate and the hatch has been blown into rubble, and fused as a wall. Apparently, this SA-X has your strongest abilities, but its missiles are about a thousand and a half times more powerful. How can you possibly survive against something that blows up walls? You'd think one missile would vaporize you!

Well, I've always assumed that Samus' suit activates invisible energy shielding when hit, absorbing a blow that would injure Samus. It fits the whole energy=health thing... Samus' suit provides enough energy to run itself, but it can't provide enough energy for the forcefield, so it needs to store external energy in tanks. Now, this is why Samus can take a hit that can blow up a door; the energy shielding is pretty strong. Compare to Prime when Meta-Ridely charges into you in the ground form... it'll knock down those stone statues that Samus' super missles can't hurt, so it's even stronger than the SA-X's missles (assuming the super missles are around the same strength, except in the Fusion suit 'cause it's weaker and the data was Federation made).

The only thing left is to state that, apparently, BSL has really weak doors compared to, say, Zebes or Tallon IV.
Actually, the scene made me think of something else. Why can't Samus' missiles blow up the doors? Course now I get why but that was the first thing that popped into my mind.
The real question is: why do the SA-X's missiles either blow out the hatch or disable it when it's convenient for her? She should have blown out the two tro doors that you have to bomb around, or have blown in the first hatch you see her destroy, trapping her. That would be a funny cutscene...  Laughing

It probably aims in the right spot or something.

That would be a great April fools joke. "Shoot the right spot on the door and the whole thing would blow up forever!" Next year, I'm gonna post that on the GameFAQs board, see how many people believe it at first. They will probably try it a few times, then come back after somebody already spoiled it and said it wasn't true. Then they would say "Psh, of course it wasnt true!!! Who would beleive something so stupid?!?1 I didn't try it! Cuz Im smrt! OMG who did taht?!? Cetrainly not me!!111"
Simple: the SA-X cheats.

One shall stand, one shall ball.
That one scene alone makes me glad the SA-X never fires missiles at me that way I never need a cheat device.
One time before i got the Varia, but when i had a bunch of e-tanks, i got attacked by the SA-X.  It froze me, stepped back, and then (cue horror movie climax music) opened its arm cannon and FIRED AT ME!!1! Shocked  I almost fainted right there, but it turned out that, while i had 24 energy left, the missle hadn't obliterated me like the wall and hatch.  Weird, huh?
I made the traditional "HGRKCH" sound of amazed shock type stuff when I saw it.

Even more when it killed me instantly on my first encounter.

...I want an X clone now...
I wish it just blew up the damn station so it would have ended sooner.  Well, I don't  Evil or Very Mad HATE Evil or Very Mad  Fusion but back then I so hated it, I had to force myself to do it so I could at least beat it once.  Now I respect it a lot better, but Zero Mision is much better.
here's another plothole for you:
why do you take damage...a lot of damage for that matter...for just touching the SA-X...I mean, it's wearing practically the same thing you are

and another:
how come you have to use missiles to kill those omega metroid guys in metroid II, but the one at the end of fusion isn't affected in the slightest by them?

and while I'm at it, one more:
I'm sure that if an enemy in SM shot you with a super missile, you'd get hurt, so why don't missiles hurt the SA-X?

The X can somehow create new species by combining DNA that they have absorbed. (fish-pirate) Maybe one of the creatures SA-X absored releases some sort of negative energy that reacts with Samus's suit's energy or something of that nature.

It could also have microscopic spikes or razor-sharp scales lining the suit, like an exoskeloten.

The metroid was evolved using rapid growth techniques. The gel-body didn't have time to harden to make a more protective sheild. That way the missiles bounce off just like with regular metroids. I guess you could argue that in some way, the rapid growth made it stronger.

How do you know Samus would've got hurt? How do you know the missiles wouldn't just bounce off just like SA-X? No one actually shoots her with a missile.

Not to mention that we've been dealing with this since game 1.
Yeah, but people keep begging for logical explanations that have nothing to do with being a game.

Well, since video games are their lives, then this implies that their lives are all flawed out. :P
If Samus has metroid DNA why can't she just suck the life out of the SA-X and get it over with? Why? Because it would ruin the game.. And since the SA-X has the screw attack.. let's go with what Wassup Dawgs said..

Because she can only absorb them if they're free floating. It's kinda hard to schlurp up a full metal Power Suit.
If the federation wanted some X so badly, why couldn't they have just gone down to SR388? I guess they couldn't get a SA-X that way, but still...
because SR388 is probably totally overrun by the X, while in the station they are in a relatively controlled enviroment.
The federation also wanted SA-X because it has the strength of Samus Aran. Think about it, either two Samus to save the universe orrr a heroine/hero for free( you don't pay any bounty).
