I have a copy of the PAL Player's Choice version of Prime, trying to load it on a US Gamecube with Freeloader.  The game never seems to start.  I put it in after Freeloader says "insert game disk", but the screen clears and nothing seems to happen after that.  Is there anything special I need to do?  I know it supports 60 Hz mode.  The Freeloader version is 1.06B btw.

yeah, you need to make sure you're using a wired controller (not a wavebird), then on the freeloader screen, press Y on your controller. some flags should appear. select the european flag (highlight it and press A), then replace the ar/freeloader disc with your pal prime disc. you will see something flickering in black and white for the next few seconds. this is actually a message asking if you want to run prime in 60 hz mode. if you wait long enough, it will select "yes" for you and the game will start in 60 hz ntsc video. should be fine from there.
Ah, thanks.  I actually managed to figure it out on my own, and I was so excited to start playing that I forgot I posted this message.  It's neat though, I like all the changes so far...I've never really been big into sequence breaking.  It's almost like playing a whole new game.  It was neat to hear what Flaahgra's music really sounds like.  I'm about to make the lab run for the thermal visor, taking a break now.  Oddly enough though, I had a strange glitch during the sheegoth/wave beam battle.  My power beam shots started bouncing off of the air when I was trying to shoot the boxes to get some health/missiles.  That was really strange.  I can't remember if I had any problems there in the US version or not.

that was probably the energy sucking power of the sheegoth in action. that happens in the us version, too, but you have to get lucky and start shooting when the attack is activated, as happened to you there.

and yeah, cool about getting it to work. i figured it out myself, as well. ;) be sure to check the metroid 2002 prime section's version diffs and report anything i missed.
I found a very minor difference. in the frigate at the beginning.  In the US version, when you go down the diagonal cargo lift elevator, when you exit it the hologram reappears, and if you walk backwards into it you'll end up going back up again.  I did that so many times while backing up from the space pirate that jumps down.  However, in the PAL version, the hologram doesn't reappear.  If you back up into the elevator, it won't go back up, so once you get to that point in that version, you can't go back.
