Well, I picked up this game today. Please, please, please tell me that the controls are much easier to use once you get used to them! I was expecting to use the nunchuk with the Wiimote, rather than having to use just the Wiimote and having to tilt/aim it.

This is actually the first 3-D metroid that I've played more than 5 minutes of. Already, the cutscenes are getting annoying.

The controls are very easy once you get used to them, outside of Missiles.

It feels (to me) a lot like a Beam Only 2D metroid.
What'd you say?
It seems to play a lot like Fusion in the aspect of go to navigation room after navigation room.

IIRC there's only 1 Nav Room you can skip in Other M, and that's only if you know what you have to do beforehand.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah the controls do get, not better, but less absurd once you get used to them. Even switching to missiles doesn't feel completely awful after some time. The cutscenes, however, aren't getting any better. Brace yourself, you're in for a ride.

Imagine if Fusion actually was everything people complain about it being. That's Other M.

Ugh... I'm going to assume it's impossible to get "stuck", but it feels like I am. I'm in Sector 1, I went past the first Nav room, slid down some slope with spiked vines, and I can't seem to progress. I either need super missiles to go forward or speed booster to back track. I've tried clearing both rooms I can access, and the only other available door doesn't unlock. Oh, and is there an actual method to IBJ? I see a missile tank that I can't reach but just button mashing can almost get me to it.

I dunno, I'm frustrated already. I wish they would've stuck to 2-D Metroid games.

Yes you can IBJ but they've programmed in a ceiling for it, so it's useless.

And I mentally remember that room, and getting stuck there. But I don't recall what you have to do.

It's probably one of the game's "puzzles". Use your eyes and "Scanning mode" to see if something's out of place.

You can grab onto ledges... Bah! Why didn't I think of that?!

I'm sorry.

And since you're coming up to this point: I'll just say it. When you're doing the pixel hunt in the field-looking area, it's a green splotch behind you. That part had me tripped up for far, far too long and is absolutely baffling to every degree that they would put a mechanic like that in the game.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I seem to recall that later on it felt like I used the pointing mode less, and was able to actually just play it with the 'normal' mode more, which was less annoying.

What annoyed me most was not being able to 100% everything in one run.  And when you are able to, the bloody game tells you where they all are. Sad

Wait... WTF?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Um, it was semi clear.  You can read if you like, but it's kinda spoilery (nothing major).
You can't get everything in one playthrough.  You have to finish, defeat the extra boss, then go back, with all of the items ever-so-nicely blipping on your map.
What'd you say?
Yea, your previous post was clear, it's just, WTF... That's not how a Metroid game should be...

I'm beginning to understand the disdain held for this game.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Hehe, keep going.  I wouldn't go as far as to say I liked it, but it's worth a single run. aiwebs_004

I was gonna spoiler this but it's really nothing so whatevs.

The game doesn't end after the extra boss. You can absolutely 100% the game before the end, iirc the boss is blocking one pickup and everything else can be gotten before that or before the end. Granted it's super easy to stumble into the ending at that point. The credits don't run until you beat that boss and do the final (stupid) sequence so it's not really extra. I guess it depends on what you think of epilogues.

As for stuff being marked Metroid games have been marking rooms with pickups for a long time, this game gets slightly more specific as to where in the gray box it is but it's not like it's putting giant arrows over it once you get near it. It's like the only thing the game did totally right.
What'd you say?
I kinda like the hints for items but it seems a little excessive at times. I dunno, I'm not having too much trouble with the game now except during the first-person modes where you have to figure out what to lock-on to. That's just really annoying.
Anywhere, everywhere
Yeah, I was fine with the marking the items on the map feature. It didn't give much away and finding 100% otherwise would've been damn near impossible. It's honestly better than Super's "hide random missiles in the wall and don't even put the dots on the map" approach.

I need assistance with the last 5 items:
Quote:
Alright, I'm getting to the point of getting sick of running around. Here is what I need help with:
Main Sector (84%):
From the main elevator, go two rooms south. The item I can't find seems to be either above or below that elevator. I can't locate it though.
-------------
There is also an item in the room with your ship that I can't grab. There is an orange door locking it. I'm assuming it's unlocked during the escape sequence, but I'm not sure.

Sector 1 (97%):
Starting from the big room with the spiral center (just north or the main elevator), go west to that navigation room. Two rooms after that, there is a slope that goes down. There is a door above that slope that I can't break open. Missiles and powerbombs do nothing, and I can't lock-on long enough for supper missiles. I've tried shinesparking it, as well as stopping on those small pink plants.

Sector 3 (95%):
From the main elevator, take the east path. One room after the first navigation room there is a room with two lava pools and two grapple beam points. I can't seem to figure out where the item is in this room.

So, it seems I could only figure out 96% by myself, and with a short time frame.
