I'm still working on 2% on the classic edition for GBA...I can't get past Kraid! ARGH! Any advice, comments, reflections, or enlightenment are welcome. And no, I probably will not believe you've ever done a 1 item run on a console (NES, Famicom, or even GBA, GBASP or GCN).

Too many fangirls to count
I should have done a 1 item run. It was... alas 2 items though. I'm working on the proof. *waits for NES to get fixed*
... I haven't finished the game yet... It's too hard... Embarassed

Meh. It's easy up the hizzouse once you beat it for the first time.
I got all the way to Mother Brain, in one run, only missed 3 missile tanks (woo! I never do that good anymore), and died at Mother Brain because I ran out of ammo, because I forgot to resupply after killing the zebetites. That wasted the better part of 3 hours. :(

I never really tried again after that. I didn't feel like wasting time to get my health back up from 30, and getting back 240 missiles.

The zebdite things stay dead if you save. So it is easier.

well, when I first got it, I went to the chat and asked for help from a local pro, Scarlet. Her response: "It's easier if you just don't die." -_-

Skills take time to build. Keep practicing and you will get it,
I wasn't aware the zebetites stayed dead in the original. That would make it easier. I'm still too lazy to work my health (and missiles) all the way back to full, though.

Metroids give you UBER health. and You only need about 20 missles for MB.

I've done a 2-item run on the real console. Once.

Yet neither of us managed to prove it,

Yeah, I can't prove anything, as I don't have any way to record (or the money to do so). I don't feel that I have the skill to record any WR or at least SDA-worthy runs, though, so I'm fine with not being able to record. The best I could do is perhaps take a picture of the end result of my runs.
Too many fangirls to count
No. If you recorded that, it would be the center of exitement ant attraction. If I recorded mine, it would be the same. I need a tricked out capture card.

I just intend to tape it and mail to someone else to capture for me...but I first have to find someone who can capture and is relatively close who'd accept it...and I also have to beat Kraid....
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
I've never tried it on the cart, just finding out that it's possible was enough for me.  :o

Tim I think either completed one, or almost did (2 item).

Not dying does help, though.  Just try to keep Kraid's projectiles frozen, and shoot him when you can.
I haven't done low% per-se, but I've done it without killing Kraid or Ridley (doing the bomb-jump in the statue room, etc, etc).  Then again, I had a mess of everything else with me :P

Also, I've done an only-maru-mari-and-bomb run (for ability-items anyway).  Except that I had a crapload of missiles and energy tanks to help.

Well, sir Kabutroid, etanks and missile tanks count as items, since you pick them up as you go. The whole spirit of low% runs come from the difficulty of getting through with only the minimum health and tanks and such as possible. I think the only reason beating bosses doesn't count as getting 15 missile tanks is because it's hard as hell to get through Ridley's area or beating Kraid. A one item 1 boss run is impossible, also, because you need either bombs or ice beam to get into tourian. For now,  completely forget how, but I'll know when I get home.

Okay, sorry for the double post/bumpage, but I finally managed to do it. My first ever 2 item run. I did it on the GBA port version, so it counts as console. I had to use the up+select code to cut to the pw screen whenever arriving at a hideout, so i did it in like 3 parts. It took a month or something to get to part three, and several months to reach what I intend to be part four when I decide to record it, and several weeks to actually beat both parts 3 and 4 together because I didn't want to overwrite the pw (although I accidentily did this afternoon >_< ). So once I get a long period of time with the GC and a tv, I'll probably record it. I dunno when, but I hope some day, I can send an official run in.

i wish to beat him to it. *fires up NES* *realizes that NES is broken* CURSE THE WORLD!
*suggests buying new NES over EBay*
Too many fangirls to count
EBay has failed me before with the NES. *points to second broken NES*
Well then, *suggests using the ZM unlockable*
