The portal you follow Dark Samus into... and lose all your stuff from. If there were any sequence breaks to get around that game, going through different rooms or secret worlds, you'd be able to get the rest of the items way out of sequence as you'd already have your bombs and what not.

I'm sure people already know this, but my post was more about asking who has tried.
Thread title:
red chamber dream
It was one of the first things I thought of, I tried just a little bit in the beginning of the game. Didn't find anything, and I HIGHLY doubt there is a way around this portal, as it is probably one of the things that Retro made absolutely sure it couldn't be bypassed.

To bad you most likely can't. I wonder if you went to a room to fight a Sub-Guardian, would it still be there? It would be interesting to find out and completly glitch the game. I tried this as well and looked at the map for an alternate route, so far the only (im)possible way to avoid it is to:
A.) Find a way to jump extremely high in the first room to get up to the place you normally need the light beam for. (I think this is most possible but still unlikely.) Although I never checked if the door there is locked until you trigger an event or something.
B.) Find a way to phase through about 3 feet of metal.
I think I remember reading that someone did try skipping it, but it caused the game to crash.
Perhaps someone could use Action Replay to have the light beam right at the landing site and then access the door to the upper left.  Hell, moon jumping would do this.  It'd be nice to see what would happen (a video perhaps?) as far as if the game would crash or whatnot.
Ummm, getting the Light Beam isn't necessary, you can ghetto up to that door. I have done it. You have to "double Ghetto", or something.
  S= Ship
  W= Web
  Z= eye pillar to Ghetto jump against
  ?= Light beam thing
  D= Door
  L= Luminoth body
  .....= lower level
  ___= upper level
  ----= sloped part to jump with

I have never done ASCII art before, so sorry. Maybe a movie would be good.
You have to go inbetween an 'eye pillar' and the sloped wall closest to the web, Ghetto up both walls, or something, it has been a while.

But... don't waste your time. The two doors that exit from that room, "Service Access" I think, are blocked by a super missle door leading to "Meeting Grounds" and a seeker door leading to "Hall of the Honored Dead".  I have got onto a morph ball track, but not inside the ones that lead out of the stupid room.
It looks like Retro really thought about how to stop sequence breaking and turn this into a Zelda game. With no really helpful SB's, like space jump first.
It is a possible lead, but I haven't found anything with my two hours experience running around up there.
Ghetto Jumping MIGHT work, but I doubt it. Retro probaly came up with all the possible tricks we could make up, and put specific objects or doors where we could go around something.

I'd also wonder if you could get the Sky Temple keys from the begging without the Dark Visor.
But that's probaly scripted into the game... :?
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
You can't shoot the Ing Caches when they're invisible unless you're looking under the Dark Visor.
You can't? Uhhh... I hit 2 of them accidentally without the visor.

One of them was in Sanctuary Fortress in the other side of the Dynamo Chamber (Think that's where it is? Either there or somewhere that required the screw attack. One of them).

I was walking around like "wtf? There's nothing here." when I was about to fall off the edge, but got knocked back. I started shooting around trying to work out what got me, and I hit an Ing Cache that then became visible and so I killed it, and was like "ok cool. So this is what I'm looking for."

Hit another one accidentally too in Dark Agon.
Why must you turn this message board into a house of lies?

GreenMamba and Bladegash are both definitely correct. There is no possible way to shoot the Ing Caches without the Dark Visor on. Sorry, Demruth.

But I do know that you can be hurt by Ing Caches. I was hurt by one in the room he is talking about, I never did understand what it was until I had to come back to find the Cache there.
Bah. No fun.

My story is half true though. I did actually run into 2 of them and get knocked back...

Didn't hit em without the visor. Alas, I already had it by that stage. In fact, don't you need the visor by the time you hit the Dynamo Chamber one? Didn't think you could access Sanctuary without it.
There is a much easier way to get to the upper Landing Site ledge.  Turn 90 degrees to your left right at the beginning of the game, and you'll see a giant eye directly ahead.  The top right corner of this eye is a ledge, and from there you can jump to the ledge.

Does not make the trick any more useful, just a little easier to execute... there is still no real reason to do it other than to get two scans early.
Probably just being led down a rabbit hole here...

BUT, when you use that trick to get to the upper ledge in the landing site, all the exits from there are blocked by either super or seeker doors. but on the path to the super door, the morph ball room.

you come into it on the bottom part, now, the blocks up top that crumble while you cross them, if they're the same as the ones on the path to Torvus Plaza, you can destroy them with a bomb. From looking at it for awhile, I figure if you can manage to lay a bomb close enough to one to blow it up, by laddering a dbj from a higher ledge than the bottom floor, you could manage it. after that, it seems like a well timed TRH could get you all the way up to the top. I'm gonna take a look at this with another file to check it out, i dunno if it even works but its worth a look, could lead to skipping the 1st portal, torvus before anything, seekers before the portal etc.

EDIT: An extremely FAST TRH after the laddered, as they reform, although, if you were in their space while they did it could force you up even higher.

EDIT: Sigh, never mind, they cant be taken out with bombs, loaded up a diff file and TRH up, whacked out a power bomb right underneath the blocks and they stood strong. i swear ill find a SB yet! also, using the ladder with a boost twist onto it, you can also get right up there to lay a regular bomb which doesnt work either, dont know why reg would when power doesnt but meh, tried it anyways.
I wonder if someone will find a way to beat the game extremely quickly with a glitch the way they did with Zelda: LTTP.  That was crazy...you have to disassemble a SNES controller to do it, but you can beat the game in less than 3 minutes from the beginning.  It involves holding up and down at the same time and going through one of the doors in the castle backwards, it basically glitches the hell out of the game and makes it lose track of what world you're in, you walk right past Ganon into the triforce chamber and win.  I wonder if there's a way to make MP2 lose track of whether you're in the light or dark world.
PAGE BREAKER
Ready and willing.
Well, seeing as how there's a loading screen between the two worlds, that's pretty much impossible. At least without making the game asplode.
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Yeah, Metroid Prime 2 counts the Dark and Light world versions of rooms as two completely seperate environments.
IIRC, I managed to get a Sky temple key early one time. It was in the room with the Ing Webtrap, I used the power beam to find the platforms as well as the Cache.
So are we completely sure you need to be USING the dark visor to hit them?  Or is it possible you just need to HAVE it?
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
No, you actually need to be using the Dark Visor to hit them out of their cloaking mode.  Test it yourself--find an Ing Cache, look at it under the Dark Visor.  Aim at it, turn the Dark Visor off, and shoot.  The shot will fly right through as if nothing's there.
Ever tried looking around with the Dark Visor in the area they are hidden in the Light World? You'll see their shape, like a red halo or something (you cannot harm them from the Light World, dimensional flux I believe).
