I think the hardest boss was Kraid. No, really. I only died once to MB, and that was because I didn't run back to the Chozo statue to recharge. (Before MB, I had fallen right in the middle of the Metroid insanity room... after a short while, I realized that I just had to kill the 6 Metroids raping me with one of them on my head...  Shocked) Kraid, however, took me 3 tries. The first time was pathetic... I couldn't figure out how to hit him until my life was almost gone... I wasted a lot of missles on his navels because they didn't *tink*. The second attempt was severely hampered by my attempts to use that little block they show Samus using on the back of the box... heh, yeah right.

I never did have too much trouble with the final ninja pirates. Then again, maybe it was my 78% talking there.

btw, there are no spoilers of Doom in this topic... ;P

I was anticipating that with a poll of this nature, potentially every spoiler possible in the game could easily come up here. That, and I was using hyperbole :P

You missed the joke  Rolling Eyes

You would have thought Nate's choice of capital letters would have given it away, especially since I think that's the only one I've ever seen him use. Oh well, nothing gets between me and being an idiot. Embarassed

That's not as silly as it sounds. Despite the fact that I remembered exactly how to kill Kraid from Super, it still took me several tries to finally learn his pattern and nail him.

If it were possible, I'd chnge my vote to MB, now that my emulator has stopped being crap and I can play the game smooth enough to line up shots on robot Ridley properly.
Mecha Ridley's also a bitch. He keeps
slashing
and
firing laser beams at me

What a bastard he is, truly.
Yay, I added Spoilers of Doom!
Actually, the following are spoilers of Doom:

A space marine discovers his platoon has been wiped out, so he gets some weaponry and opens a can of whoop-ass on an almost infinite number of demons.

If that isn't one of the most unnecessary uses of spoiler tags ever conceived, I don't know that is.  Except maybe something like:

You breath air.
Not impossible
just highly unlikely
I breathe WHAT? Thanks for spoiling, jackass.
Grass is green (or at least most of it)
What luck, there's french fry stuck in my beard.
Mother Brain was the hardest, hands down.

In fact, I found Metal Ridley to be disappointingly easy.....
I don't know why, but Mecha-Ridley was harder when I fought him with 100% items than when I fought him the first time with 77%.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
I mess up most on Kraid, Metal Ridley, but most often against the black pirates by the escape pod.

Ridley is simple in hard when I play hard 100%, and I beat Mother Brain in 20 seconds last night, so piece o' cake (in 100% at least).
First:
Mother Brain, she was the only boss I actually had some major trouble with... espicially on hard the eye being the only weakspot was a PAIN.

Kraid on hard was also annoying, i actually died on him once... but, nowhere near as difficult as mother brain was.

Meta Ridley Beta model was just kinda....there... i thought it was actually a very cool fight,  if only the thing didn't die so damn quick.

I also like the Chozo quite a bit, they don't go to the extreme of becoming dirt eating druids, but neither do they worship or overemphasize their technology. Their Egyptian themed art seems to indicate a society based on disciplined, respectful obedience to elders.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, purely hypothetical.
Chozo are like people in a sense, every planet would have a different type of chozo, the ones on Zebes are far more technology based than the chozo's of Talon IV, and they also seem to have an egyptian flair..  the Choso'z on Talon IV didn't have any sort of egyptian based designs, and they seemed to be far more intouch with nature than the zebesian chozo's.
The chozo's of SR388, however, seem to be relying purely on technology, it seems their entire city's were just big hunks of random machinery, and they have more machines left around even after tehy died.  This might be because SR388 was a very hostile place compared to Zebes/Talon IV, with the X, uber metroids and the naturally more-evil enemies that lurk there....

of course, this is all just what i think.  I'm actually kinda dissapointed about the egyptian look of the chozo's, the previous chozo ruins in super metroid (way the fuck down in lower norfair, ridleys layer in super) seemed to have far more... roman collumns and warriors statues...
well, i try.

I have to agree with you there. I haven't ever played ROS, so I can't comment on SR388 Chozo, but I can comment on the other two. The Chozo I have seen all seem to try to mask their use of technology. Zebesian Chozo have a flair for art. Whether it's the sculptured architecture of lower Norfair, or the Egyptian-style hieroglyphs of Chozodia, they plaster their civilisation in some art form or other, rarely letting the bare technology show. On Zebes, it's near impossible to tell if the statue you look at is simply a piece of decoration, or a high-tech map/refill station combo. Tallon Chozo, if you look closely, are very similar. True, they prefer to live naturally, but the same kind of arcitechture is still there if you know where to look. Take the artifact temple, for example. What appear to be simple decorative statues turn out to be a lethal defense system. So, what's the difference? Tallon Chozo appear to have much more respect for nature than Zebesian Chozo, carefully building around nature, being careful not to upset the balenced ecosystem. They also only use technology where it is neccessary, and where it helps nature, unlike the Zebesian Chozo, who use it wherever they can. There is a reason for this, though. Look at Crateria. It's a rocky wasteland. There is no nature to build around, so the Chozo there use their art and technology to fill in, resulting in a very different-looking culture, even though at their roots the two may be very much the same. I imagine a similar explanation could be made for SR388's Chozo.

Remember, the two areas you mentioned are just that. Two different areas. There's nothing to say that Chozodian Chozo and lower Norfair Chozo can't have different tastes in art. Also, look at the background in Ridleys room. The romanesque columns are still there, its just you don't seem to go to that area of lower Norfair in Zero Mission. Also, look at the ruins around where you pick up the power grip. All architecture and not a hyroglyph in sight.

I think that all of the chozos are one in the same. There really are no variations of the chozo,(unless you include torizos or something) but rather just different ways to live in different time periods. You have to remember, on SR388, those are really old ruins, datig all the way back to the formation of the metroids and so forth. Back then , the chozo were dependent on technology, and needed it to survive on such a hostile world. The Zebesian chozo lived in a time period after SR388, and they semmed to be gradually going back to their spiritual ways and become one with the land. But, thats still kinda hard to do if all of the land is kinda, well...icky. So, then we get to the Tallon chozo, who find this luscious, vibrant, living planet, and decide to go back to spirituality here. Now, they can finally let go of the technology and grow in and around the life and become one with it. Of, course, whenever tthe need arises,(The meteor) the chozo can use some form of technology/magic to help with whatever needs to be done.

All in all, to me, the chozo are just a race that has evolved and changed over the years. It isnt all that weird of a thought really. I mean, look at our own race; we've changed much over the last couple of centuries ourselves. If you really think about it, we aren't that different from the chozo at all.

Well, there could be different groups of Chozo, but it's pretty clear from the scans in Prime that the Chozo on Tallon emigrated there in an attempt to get back to nature.

lol. "well, there could be a way out of here, but in reality there's only a door."
I voted for Mother Brain but really the black pirates are the most annoying, at least in a 15% run.  I eventually beat them on my Hard 15% run because I lured one up to the top, and because of some wierd AI flaw, he clung to the wall, half above the floor (so that I could shoot him but he'd have to move higher to climb up) and just started firing to the left while I was right of him.  No idea why, but I killed him without him even firing remotely close to me :D hahaha.. the second one was just a matter of doing the regular pattern of jumping the beams and letting him jump over me.

But otherwise, Mother Brain isn't so bad if you stay on the second platform (guns can't hit you here, only rinkas - use Screw attack to kill them), and jump up to the very high platform on the right when she fires her eye beam thing.  Worked pretty well ;)

BTW, in regards to RoS's Chozo, there wasn't much in that game to tell you a lot.  The graphics were obviously crappy because it was the original GB, but there were some really big "Chozo Ruins" in key areas.  They were somewhat similar to the ruins in Prime or Chozodia in ZM (minus all the nature stuff) I believe.  You couldn't see any wall paintings or anything, but of course, it was the GB.. every background was pure black -_-  I do hope they remake that game.  I know they said in an interview that there wasn't much they could add to it, but I think that really only applies to controls (Metroid 1 NEEDED a remake.. you couldn't even crouch or fire at an angle!).  There were a lot of areas that could be expanded in both a story sense and just in new maps and items and whatnot.
I('d) like to watch (some MP3 runs)
My method that I use against Mother Brain works really well; beat her in 15 seconds on hard yesterday.

I don't jump to the top corner at all, just back and forth on those platforms to avoid her blast.
Accch, you're all wusses. I did it on 15% hard, And didn't die once.
But that wasn't your first playthrough.
MOTHER BRAIN!!! *dies*

actually, it was. Wink

I wasted Mofo Brain on my first try.

I found "Samus-in-a-ball" the hardest. I'm the sole vote there.

...does that make me special? :o
always move fast
on a 9% game, metal ridley. he took me 30 + times counting on when i died on the escape ( i was never, ever killed by the black pirates on a 9% game)

on a lots of % game, Ridley is simple, kraid was dead in a second (i got supers first) metal ridley was dead very quickly, mother brain was a challenge.

My first time through, i had read in a nintendo power about infinite bomb jumping, so i actually went to ridly first. i had no idea it was the wrong way >_<.
