I seriously doubt that it is possible for a 1% run. Some places are overcrowded, or rooms are too small. It seems really difficult to go the whole game without any items 'cept the ones you got from bosses. Some bosses are almost impossible to avoid. Nightmare, for example, is hard as heck to avoid (though not impossible). Another, Ridley X, unless you run around like crazy, wall kicking and stuff.
Now, I could see MAYBE saving constantly, and when you died, reset and start from Save point. But even still, you just got your butt kicked, so ... sucks for you. Have a nice time starting over.
That's me personally, and even with codes, you'd still have a heck of a time winning, since most bosses require loads of missiles.
yeah, i mean, tons of people on this site have done 1% runs, myself included. 1% single segment, now, that's trickier, and even more evidence that 1% segmented only carries a moderate amount of difficulty, if that.
The only time bosses are sorta hard is on 1 percent.yakuza and nightmare are the hardest at first but theyre pretty easy once you get their patters down.Ridley is the hardest because hes so random.

Nightmare, even without the one percent run. He is predictable, but the way he circles around teh room is hard to try to figure out, though he does just go where you're at...
Ridley is easy, just duck in a corner, sit and fire missiles at him, though I'm sure in a 1% run, you don't have very many missiles... wow, that sucks...
A charged wide/wave/plasma beam does more damage than a diffusion missile so you don't ever have to use missiles on Ridley.
Yeah, but you have to charge up the beam first, and that takes time. ALso, I should try that... *looks at gamestore for used game* nah, maybe I'll just borrow it again and start ... over...... again.........
IIRC, somewhere around 90 missiles. Either way, charge beam is still faster, the only times having more than 15 missiles is actually useful are Nettori and Nightmare, possibly X-BOX (technically Arachnus as well, I think, but he's too easy to count >_>).
The only boss I ever had a problem with was nightmare. After you get the space jump just charge and jump and press the r(L? the one that selects missiles) button to shoot without falling. since the charge attack causes many beams ect to not work, you never get hit much.
personally, nightmare was one of the easiest for me, probably because my boyfriend scared the crap out of me about him way ahead of time. He was like "oh my god nightmare, he really is a nightmare, hes the hardest boss in the game, you'll die your first time i'm sure." I kicked his ass on the first try. Pretty quick too. I'm not really bragging, because sometimes I suck entirely at all games, and sometimes I'm really on and nothing can touch me, its random and annoying which I'll get on a given day. But I found Nightmare to be easy, and in the end really all of the bosses to be pretty easy, because in Fusion above all the other games there is a specific pattern you have to follow and if you do it right, you will never, ever get hurt. And I found that the most fun, figuring out the pattern, and then using it to whup ass. The only thing I had trouble with was the final SA-X battle. She killed me over 30 times and I had to have somebody beat it for me so I could go back and get more energy tanks and beat her myself, which I did, and after about a week of trying, I proudly escaped the facility with exactly ONE second remaining. I figured out along the way that she had a pretty simple pattern too, the SA-X, but for some reason the space jump and the charge beam at the same time on my SP would hurt my fingers so much that I'd slip out of the correct pattern enough times that she'd just end up killing me. I tried facing her my first time with only six energy tanks. I could get rid of her and that ugly thing she becomes, but on only six tanks by the time she turned into the parasite, i'd screw up once and be dead. I pulled out a lot of hair and broke a lot of things. Beat Zero Mission on only six energy tanks, though, my first time through. For someone who's played nothing but RPGs her entire life and never had to even consider coordination, jumping, platforms, all this crazy stuff thats natural to people who started on those kinds of games, i must say thats a big deal..I got good at Metroid really fast, only because I cared enough to learn every little thing and how to do it and where everything was exactly, etc etc....no other series, i tell ya.
I actually have the most trouble with Serris and Ridley... Mostly because I just don't know the patterns so well with them, so I don't know where and how Serris will zip through next, and I typically lose most of my health in the Ridley fight.
Yakuza can be annoying too, though I actually look forward to the Nightmare fight the most. Once you get the hang of space jumping around the room, it's quite an enjoyable fight--not too difficult, but enough to be interesting nonetheless.
I'm nowhere near good enough for a 1% run or anything like that, though.
Upon doing a speed run recently, I managed to beat Nightmare my first try, if you can call it a first try. The thing I have a problem with is avoiding him, but yeah, you guys knew that.
I looove the spider Boss, and for some reason, his music as well. Maybe 'cause it's my final Happy moment before the SA-X run-like-hell sequence.
I tried that first SA-X encounter thing where you run past him, run through the Door, and he's gone thing, but I got owned. Stupid jerk. Love the SA-X encounter before the Varia suit. Can spend hours messing with him. Ohh, speaking of which, my friend did the run all the way under the platform thing with the SA-X to where the SA-X goes to the right adn falls down below. My friend then went though the Door that you came from, and the SA-X was right there, in about 2-3 seconds.forcing my friend to run like hell again. Possibly something else to add to the Smart SA-X series? Or would that be considered stupid? Dunno, DO care, but whatever.
Back on topic to hardest boss, nightmare just requires alot of missiles aimed in the right position, or maybe charged beam shots. Didn't do too well with those. Takes to long to fully charge them compared to Zm anyways.

If you're having trouble with Serris, you can try this out. It's a pretty slow method, but guaranteed to work. After entering the room, head over to the ladder on the right side. Climb all the way to the top. Point Samus' cannon to the left and charge your beam. Stay right there. 98% of Serris' charge attacks will miss you from this "top right" position - if you do happen to get hit, just press right on the stick to grab the ladder and climb back to the top again. Anyway, from this position what you want to do is wait until Serris' ugly head is right on top of Samus' arm cannon. When it is, release the charge shot so that you also hit Serris with the "swoosh" from the charge beam for extra damage. ... Should take 3 or 4 shots (maybe 5 or 6 if your timing is slightly off) done in this fashion to start the Core-X portion of the fight.
