Can anyone tell me what items i SHOULD get for a 15% game on hard mode? I know there will be different opinons on what is best to get but i want an idea so I know what I should go for, and so I can start my 15% game.
1 more missile expansion (the one in ridley before dropping down), 2 supers (the ones in ridleys lair, that explains why you should pick up the super in ridley) 2 energy tanks and screw attack would be my choice.
i ha the screw attack, an energy tank, and 4 supers. (two in reidley, one from the bee boss, one in norfair). i got the energy tanks so i couls stand a hit from the pirates in chozodia.

That missile expansion's not required; you can easily get around it. Upon entering Ridley's Lair, head to the right and fire two missiles into the second spot in the ceiling. Bomb Jump up tthere and lay a bomb on the ceiling to get through. Congratulations, you've entered Ridley's Lair without fighting Imago! Now go get the free Super Missile Tank that's just sitting there (being careful to dodge the Missile Tank by the two Violas) and continue through to find Ridley.

I think he's talking about the missile above the save, about 4 blocks to the right and 1-2 blocks up from Ridley's room. You have to get it to get to the SMs behind it.

Wow, this is getting confusing... let's see. It appears that TRH, Dark, and Aj are thinking of three different things. No... wait... let me sort this out.
TRH AND Aj: You do NOT need to pick up that missle to get the SM behind it, as Dark says in the bolded post. I've done it myself; Samus can squeeze past it even unmorphed! TRH, I'm assuming the italized word should be missle instead of super.
Dark: I'm not sure whether you thought TRH was talking about Imago's Super, or you just wanted to explain the process for the original poster.
The end of this game is terrible on a low percent! I can kill the final boss but when I'm escaping I die from the space pirates so easily. I chose these items:
Morph Ball Bombs Long Beam Ice Beam Varia Suit Power Grip Hi-Jump Screw Attack Missiles (X1) Super Missiles (X2) E-Tank (X1) Unknown Items (X3)
I just can't seem to get past the space pirates. It only takes 2 hits to kill me and considering how many of them there are, it's not hard for them to get me. Any advice?
I was talking about the one on the way to the first pickable super (if ridley first, and skipping the bee-boss) cause, i mean.. helps vs the zebetites and lots of stuff, dont see why it should be skipped.
There's a part in Chozodia where you need 3 missles to get through, but in Hard, you only get 2 a tank. So you need either another missle, another super missle, or the screw attack to bypass it.
Heh, yes, it's possible. I've done several. Neither are really hard, it's more just practice, practice, practice. And patience. If you don't practice and aren't patient, you can't do it. Oh, and a little luck is always nice; you never know when you'll randomly be hit by 3 missiles, a gigantic metal claw and a huge laser all at once while fighting Robot... I mean, Mecha Ridley. Heh, Robot Ridley... at least they're trying to be original (as that's what most enemies in the original Metroid's days were called... although, it does make you wonder about Imago. Why Imago? Why not 'Bee with Stinger'?).
Quote from iamamano:
So if I do a 10%, what should I get, another missile pack, a super missile, or Screw Attack? I'm thinkin Screw Attack.
I usually get an extra missile, because it's really useful in Tourian against the zebetites, and super missile refills are really, really rare. But if you want an extra (although unneccesary) challenge, go for the screw attack. I actually should do that sometime... hmm...
Oooh... Well, I'm still having a hell of a time with Mecha Ridley on Hard 100%... I can beat him without 100% on Hard... But he's a really good challage.

It should be skipped because a Super Missile is probably a better choice because it does more damage. As for the Zebetites, you're almost certainly going to go into the previous corridor before fighting Mother Brain and refill your ammo by killing the Rinkas anyway so what does it matter?
Well, i went to Ridley already and I completely destroyed him, and I still haven't gotten anything but the required items. I think I'll copy my save to another slot so I can experiment with Screw Attack, or with a missile upgrade, or with a super missile, and see what i like best. I think I'm doing OK, Kraid is gonna be hard though. I'm at about 26 minutes after killing Ridley so we'll see how it goes. Maybe sometime i'll compete with you ajbolt. (haha.)
You mean at the save after Ridley? If so, not half bad. My first speed run was at like 22 before him, and like 26 after as well... which is awesome. I'll really be able to tell better if you tell me your time at the last Tourian save, while all the zebetites are still 'alive'. I was at 33:35 or so on this last run, and before that I was at like 38:35. Oh wait... have you killed Kraid yet? I usually do Kraid first (well, I always do Kraid first, heh) without entering Norfair... you know, the diagonal IBJ stuff.
Edit: Ah, I see, 'Kraid is gonna be hard though'. I got a news flash: no, he's not, at all. Haha, his area is SO easy, assuming you don't suck at bombjumping and have the varia... some people say getting Varia is for weaklings, but if there's no reason not to, why not? But uh, back to Kraid, yeah, it's easy. Especially the actual battle with him... I've got it down to like 13 seconds if I am in the eye room before him with full health/missiles. Three quick ones, but not all four so he doesn't destroy the main platform, then after his first volley of two nails you shoot the remaining missile into him, then get the nail refills, shoot those four into him, and proceed. You know it's a good battle if he didn't destroy the little 2x1 platform. Good luck with your run(s?) though!
hmm.. i thought getting ridley first would probably be faster, but that was, of course, to get a supermissile for Kraid, and considering I don't think I'll get a supermissile this time, i see your point. I have to experiment a little bit and play the game on 10% hard a few times before I know what i'm really doing.
About tourian.. how did you escape in time without SB or Hi-Jump? I've never done a hard mode escape without one of the two.
Oh and by the way... do you know when your video is coming out? Maybe I can steal some ideas from you
