Heh, according to the Player's Guide there are eight different endings. The most difficult appear to be Hard, 100%, Under 2 hours and Hard, 15%, No Time Limit.
I was almost thinking that they'd have a Hard, 15%, Under 2 hours ending. For that, they'd have to say something like, "Super Metroid has been added to the Options screen" at the end. :D
hard mode was far more difficult than normal mode, as it should be.. but not for the reason of the 1/4 total life, doing less damage etc. it was just harder because of how few missiles they through at you. oh, and those 2 final black space pirates, those things are a bitch.
anyway, i'll most likely be playing hardmode from hear on out, just because that seems to be what happenes to me whenever i play a game with a hard mode, the normal mode is just too damn easy afterward (mainly with metroid prime....)
lol, maybe i should try going through easy and seeing just how pathetic that is.
I haven't even unlocked Hard Mode yet. I can't beat Mother Brain on Normal. Now I feel stupid.
Don't worry. We all found Mother Brain really hard at first. The trick is, to stay on the back platform most of the time. Jump to either the front platform, or on top of the gun above you whenever you need to aoid the huge beams mother brain shoots at you or the little red circle things. The other guns can't hit you when you're on the back platform.
im working on hard 100% under 2 hours. Then I can make an easy hard 100% over 2 hours (by leaving the game on) and a hard under 2 hours (by missing the last e-tank) and i'll get 3 new endings. Not sure how easy that'll be though.
I cant get hardmode... so far ive tried beating normal 3 times but with no hard mode added...am i supposed to beat it on easy too? and also you're supposed to stay on the back platform? I never knew that! ha no wonder i have so much trouble and also i just wanna say that for my modem this website is a bitch, but that doesnt matter... i could go on and on about nothing but ill save ya
I like the way that Hard Mode reflects Samus's strength in the original Metroid more. She can get six ETanks like before, and the difficulty is more like the original. A nice touch...
can someone please tell me how to get hard mode? Like i posted earlier ive beaten the game 3 times on normal now...and i still dont have hard mode... yay my 10th post!

Load a finished game and select "new". You should be able to select the hard mode.
Yep. Took me awhile to figure that one out, believe it or not. Like Super Missiles in Prime. I thought that the regular missiles I was firing were Super Missiles after I got the upgrade. I was really surprised to find out that they were the Power Beam Missile Combo.
D'OH!! shoulda known that, and by the way... did anyone else find getting the morph ball a challenge in hard mode... i'll never get past the worm much less beat the game ='(
You mean Charge Beam, right? If you can't get the Morph Ball in Hard Mode then you can't tie your shoes. :D
The trick to beating the worm is shooting hit every time you get a chance, and you usually have to shoot the spikes he sort of shoots out at you to get more missiles.
no i meant the ball but i meant it as a joke... because it really is a change in difficulty... Like a REALLY BIG change in difficulty in my own opinion because i remember being able to take like 7 hits from a spiky thing in the beginning (i don't really know the names of the creatures) and now you cant take 3 hits without dying
Stay under him, between his tail and claw. If you go too far forward he grabs you and hurts you a lot. If you go too far back he hits you with his tail. Occasionally shoot missiles up at him. Super missiles will cause him to go crazy on you with his tail, so if you are going to use any, use them only once in awhile OR, at the very end so that you just kill him with the supers. while under him, he will shoot out fireballs every once in awhile and you can shoot them for refills on health and missiles and sometimes supers. With this strategy I have killed him quite easily (even with only 2 missiles on hard mode with 99 energy.)
