I beleive I had a match with a hacker earlier today. It's not that he was super-good; he sucked really bad, not to mention he had 1 star.

  There were three things I noticed that shouldn't have happened.

1. About halfway through the match, he had unlimited energy. He was being double teamed by me and another person (both using volt driver) and he was just standing still. Once the volt driver "connects" it starts doing damage a lot faster. Both of ours were "connected" for at least 7 seconds and he didn't die from that, nor for the rest of the match (and I must have whacked him ten times with the vhoscythe after that) .

2 & 3: 5 or so seconds before the match ended, I was in first place. I checked the scores and I had 4 kills and 2 deaths, and he had 3 kills and 2 deaths. I jump around for 5 seconds, the match ends, and I get second place. The score sheet says I have 4 kills and 2 deaths, and he has 5 kills and 1 death.

Yeah, so this guy was cheating, though I don't know how. Dang hackers.
Thread title:
-,- it's shock coil...stil thats pretty cheap...
He was using Samus, not Sylux, and he wasn't using the shock coil, he was just standing there.  And since when does the Shock Coil take away from your deaths? <_<;
Woah, that's pretty weird. I wonder how they hack though? Have they already made a program to hack MPH?

EDIT: Oh, and what he meant was that the shock coil "connects" and takes away more damage the longer its connected.
I can only guess he used a Passme chip and a flashcard. This can be done in Mario Kart DS to play all the tracks online (instead of just the ones normally available). If this is the case then it shouldn't be too much of a problem, because few people have a DS Passme and most of those probably aren't likely to want to cheat.

Ready and willing.
I dunno, something similar to number one happened to me in a match against interdpth in IRC and it was basically just severe lag. Since he was completely motionless that's probably it. Could also account for the sudden score jump.
you can hack with passme?!@ i use it to watch movies and stuff when i get bored...but hack?!@!@ 0_o;;;
I fought two hackers this morning. One was Trace and the other was Sylux.  Trace was ALWAYS invisible and Sylux always killed you with the shock coil even when I was using it at the same time.
Sorry to ruin your theories, but this is caused by lag and is called 'desync'. ;)

It is when the other person is connected, but lagging too badly for you to actually get a real shot on them. Instead, you're shooting the last position they were standing that you can see, when in reality they've long moved from there.

What you've described is a more severe desync. Sometimes it just messes with the accuracy of attacks (happened to me last night when I was playing with Yoshi). In this case you'll still do damage, but what looked like a headshot to you may only have hit them in the legs. This is pretty common on wifi.

Another weird thing that happens with this is the scores can be affected. Since both people think they're getting kills and the other person is killing themself, both people think they won. In the end the game may correct itself and give the win to the one that actually does have the most points.

When you get this, there really isn't much you can do unfortunately. If you're doing a friends match you can try rehosting.

The same stuff happens when I play SSB online. With that people look like they're running off of the edge or attacking the air, which can actually be pretty funny. <_<

Anyway, the people you're talking about are NOT hackers.

Trace can always be invisible for a limited time if he gets the invisibility item, and Sylux's shock coil adds to his health, so if two people are using the shock coil and one's Sylux and the other's not, Sylux will not take any damage, while the other will lose all their health.

This is probably because FPS games were never really good for the peer-to-peer design typically used in  RTS games. If they went with a client-server architecture, there would probably be less of this (and then the game could support more players).

Yea it would be awsome if there could be like 7- 10 people in one match or something. lol or like an army of spires vs trace or something
