soz for saying that containment was gonna be a fullhack, but wasnt this was due to me not knowing if the hack idea would work. and now that i know it does im gonna go out and make a fullhack from scratch. so it should go on the list but the release is along ways of . :(
Well, another update. Aegis from Acheron86 [and I believe it's a full hack] is almost done. Hangtime and Containment are also done, they're mini hacks. Soup in the half section is finished.
At this point I'd think Aegis qualifies as a redesign, considering just how much has been altered on every level. It's EP's call though, and I wouldn't be offended if the consensus was otherwise. Might be best to wait until it's out to decide, of course... still looking at a May release.
I hadn't thought to mention Hangtime, though. It's not a terrible mini-hack so feel free to add it to the list.
Well, you have a point. Your hack is a graphical redesign, and based on your second video, you have altered your gravity, but not to the extent of what Redesign was.
Technically I think the line between a "redesign" and a "full hack" is too blurry. Rather, a system should be used like the one romhacking.net uses, where it tells you if the fullhack adds new graphics, bosses, physics, sound, etc. For example, a lot of hacks may change the graphics in a few areas and may move tiles from one tileset to another to get an original feel, but at what level can you say it's a "complete redesign"? Likewise, some minihacks could alter a lot of the tiles, create ASM hacks and replace bosses and such, and yet still be a "minihack" if they're quite small. Also, people may associate 'complete redesign' too much with SMR itself because of the same name "Redesign" and may believe that if they're dling a 'complete redesign' that it's going to be as insanely large as SMR, and thus may end up being disappointed. It'd be more descriptive to nix the 'redesign' designation altogether and just note whether a fullhack alters stuff like the physics, tiles and bosses and perhaps an estimate on how large it is compared to the original SM.
Yeah, I think it may be a good idea to have just full and half hakc(and mini and few rooms <_<)
EDIT: Yes, I am making int half and full. on Full, I will put aditional changes under the game(ASM, physics, graphics, etc.)
