Where can you get SMILE?

Here.

Tonski, don't avoid the censor. This is a warning.

Also, read the forum rules if you haven't already.

Haha allright.

How'd you like if I'd put that nice Link of yours as my avatar?
Stealing someones avatar like that is a very lame move. I can understand Tonski's anger.
Note : The LIMIT ips patch can be added to the 'HARD MODE' Hack of super metroid (usually found alongside certain places one finds Justin Bailey patch).
This makes it a pretty engaging experience, with the enemies being at least twice as strong....

Quote from Qlex:
Oookay, so you need to get the blue suit glitch.
Just get to the lower room, and do a shinespark (super jump), like in limit 0002, but not to the way you show (limit 0002), there is another duct which looks similar, and which is a little bit on the right (see the map on limit 0001, the room is not completely shown in your map, there is not all the tiles, the missing tile is where you must go.). With that you will get the blue suit and enter the G. suit room.

By the way you could get plasma beam, but if you don't get it now you will lose it forever.

PROBLEM: Area to superjump straight up then turn blue-suit before getting gravity suit:
After shinespark-leaping up through the stacks of horizontal pipes(tried many different anglesof approach, + diag. jumps, ect), you end up coming up on the next screen shinesparking and on an elevator from nowhere. Should sound familiar.
Each time i just hit the ceiling and lose the spark. No bluesuit after about 30 tries. Either there is something peculiar about the superjump i'm not doing, or it's the fact that i patched the ips with Metroid expert edition hack (harder enemies).. but so far everything seemed to work well.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
That glitch (or lack of) is known to be due to the [insert which] emulator
"(or lack of) "-- ho ho ha!
Shucks.... i've reaached my limit on Metroid Limit then.(As i do not think there is any way out of the area besides the parchwork of  shinespark blocks) Pretty much leaves only Impossible and this SFI- hack, whatever its about.

Actually, the designer of Limit provided an alternate path. From the Noob Tube, go up instead of down. This does mean no plasma beam, but it's nearly impossible to get anyway without extreme savestate abuse. Also, don't forget the Legacy and Reverse hacks. They're not quite on the same par as the others (legacy really doesn't change the map or item order a whole lot, and reverse has only minimal map changes), but they can still be fun. Especially reverse's maze from hell...
Agh. In Limit, cannot go back to the noob tube. Just below it is now impassable sand barrier.
Actually finished Legacy(nice flow to it)  last night, which is why i started Impossible. Forgot about Reverse (if that's Zebes Returns i have it though).

Oh wow, I thought that barrier triggered on something besides the noob tube breaking. If you have a freeze or save file before the noob tube, I HIGHLY recommend just playing from there, as the ending parts are just too awesome to miss (he hacked in some fun new enemies...). Alternatively, you can use SMILE and edit away that barrier. If you're not sure how, I can post instructions.
If that's no great favor ducknerd, to explain SMILE. But i can just start over too. What you say about later parts of the game piqued my interest.
Anyone know how to increase a room size?
Eschews avatars
It's under "Room Properties", where you can also edit which area it is in and its position on the map. Be careful when you do this, though, as it can overwrite other rooms without warning you. A good rule of thumb is to resize the room without increasing the total number of map blocks.

No It can't. If you want you can have all rooms in the freaking game use the same spot on the mini map.

And you can't screaw up rooms with changing it's size.
The only way you can do this is if you put more stuff in the room and it go over the limited space that room have.
But since you can point rooms to new locations this do not even mater!

there is a way i can press on.
If someone who has Limit will use this .SMV and make that bluecharge happen.  Any takers will be awesome.

GK: I was talking about room size, not map position. I have lost rooms  without warning because I made them larger. This has also happened when I added extra PLMs to a room. It's possible I did something else to corrupt the rooms, but that's my experience. Also, how on earth do you change where each room is in the game data?
Green-Kirby, ROAR!
You change the pointers to a different point in the ROM. You can expend the room in smile. And you will have to look in a hex editor where there is empty data.
Ok, so now I'm mega pissed at Limit. I went through the literal hell of surviving the Speed Booster, I have the Plasma Beam... and now it looks like I am hosed because of that Blue Suit (non) glitch or whatever.

Unbelievable. I tried several different versions of Zsnes and it will not give me the blue suit on any of them... it jsut changes to an elevator when it gets tot eh second screen and then Samus stops.  Evil or Very Mad
That is where i got stuck too.
I had made an SMV if anyone wanted to get me past it and make an smv to re-post from a little beyond that point or with suit activated.

I'm interested in changing the Samus sprites in Super Metroid.  The more I can work with manipulating the graphics/sprites the better.  I'd rather avoid any coding or (having to do anything that requires the knowledge to do any) hacking.

Unless it's a matter of hexediting to extract, convert, then reconvert - then copy/paste back into the hexeditor - I may be able to do it.  I really don't know much about it - or if what I said was even close to what I'd have to do.

What I have planned may require more frames of animation.  But this is just what's in my mind ATM.  If that's not possible - then I'm okay with that.

Sorry if I missed any other posts asking this same question.

In the mean time; I'll look at and see if SMILE (for instance) has the ability to do this.  All suggestions are welcome.

edit: Okay.  I checked out SMILE.  (Sorry for not posting in the SMILE help topic).  I see you can change the suit colors.  I'm meaning to change the whole sprite...  and every sprite for every animation...  *sigh*  :?

Just a random and crazy example.  I could change Samus into a Gorilla.  laugh new  j/k

The way things are in my life ATM - If anything like this is possible I may have to wait a while before I can even begin to do anything.
Wow. I decided to try using one of the videos Qlex posted back on page 5... miraculously, I actually got the blue suit and was thus able to get the Gravity Suit. However, I also lost quite a few items that I had collected... I had more Energy Tanks, Missles, etc. Oh well.

I am, however, still annoyed that they would use a glitch in such a way that it could ruin your entire game.

The more I think about it, I am just annoyed at this game period, but now that I'm in I feel the need to see it through.

I would love to use new samus sprites in super metroid. Though I never feel like doing it self. I suggest you grab a tile editor.

In this pic all parts are all parts of samus suit inside the rom.
(with power suit pallet)
Now grab a tile editor and good luck! ^^

I've been told it's worth checking out later parts of the game. I'll check the page 5 thingee

Thanks!  :)  If I may ask...  How did you get those?

Also, I checked that site out.  But I didn't find any Tile (or) Sprite Editor.  Maybe I didn't look hard enough. :? The only thing I did find that had to do with Super Metroid (and presently have) is SMILE.

Will that work for what I'm wanting to do? Because the only thing I seen (so far) is a way to change the pallet of colors for the different suits.

Haha, no. Smile can change the pallet for you. And it show the pointers to the GFX. But you do not really need any pointers scroll down the rom and you WILL find them.

http://www.romhacking.net/utils/108/ Tile layer pro. Will properbly be most easy to work with when you change the suit.
http://www.romhacking.net/utils/119/ YY-Chr. What I use properly beater at any other GFX changing then big sprites or a sprite with many animations.

Good luck! >;D
