We can't give you any advice if we don't know what hack you're playing.
it's not really much of a hack. what i'm doing is changing the suit color and add a few things on the stages.
will redesign work on sne9x?

also the bugs are probably coming from the items that was never used on certain parts of the stages. i bet if i take them off it would load the stages without crashes and if it still crash then i'll just have to restart it again.

the wierd thing about it is that you can go through the powerbomb door and the supermissle door but not the first door she enters.

edit: i found out the bug it took awhile and everything run better.
now i just got to check the stage again.

edit: now i'm stuck again i tried to check and escape zebes but when i got half way out it froze.
I'm playing Super Metroid - Reverse and I'm stuck now.  I've murdered Kraid and obtained the Grapnel Beam.  I figure that Maridia is my next stop since I've just obtained the Gravity Suit in the old X-Ray Scope room, but I have no idea where to go in there.  I found the HJ Boots in the Turtle room, but then I keep running into dead ends.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Technomagus:
From Maridia's Main Street (the tall room at the leftmost) enter the topmost door. You'll enter another big room. Run right as far as you can, then grapple onto the blocks there. You'll pass through the floor and fall down. Then, have fun walljumping back up to the upper door (the lower one will just take you where you've already been).

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

My question: I'm working on a small-ish hack but can't figure out two noob-ish things. 1: How do you make more "items" (red or green doors, energy tanks, beams, etc.) in a given room? 2: How do you edit different versions of a given room? (example: the tall shaft next to Mother Brain's old room has 3 different versions: one without pirates, one with, and one during the escape sequence. I can't figure out how to edit or even look at the latter two.)
if your using smile first:

go to the edit drop-down menu

second:

scroll down to special then you will see enemy/PLM(+/-) click it!

you can to use it to add or remove items or enemies.
                                                        (PLM)  or  (obvious)
Third:
go to the top-left corner of the room and you will see them also right-click to change them into what you want it to be.
enemies when right-click says "species"
items says "types"
click on it to see what you can put in a room

i hope this helps.
Thanks, duck!  Now I just need to find a fixed version of SFI (or a guide for SMILE so I can fix it myself...) and I'll be happy.  The only one I can find is the one that crashes before Kraid.
How I get the wave beam on SM Battle?

SS: It's at the top of the first Norfair room. Use powerbombs.

Also, I'm running into some weird glitch with items in SMILE. I'll put some new ones in a room, but then sometimes they won't show up in a certain room. Then, when they do show up, if I collect some but not all of them and then leave the room, they'll all disappear. Anyone know how to stop this?

EDIT: NM, fixed that, but I just hit a game-killing glitch. I deleted some of the scroll PLMs in one room, and the door near them crashed the game when I tried to go through it. Obviously, I quickly put them back (and yes I DID copy over the Index and Unknown variables from the original ROM) but the glitch still persists and the particular door that crashes is extremely important.

I have tried: triple-checking the door data, changing the door's destination room, and even putting the same destination room and associated scroll thingies on a different door in the same room, and the game still crashes. Does anyone know what's up here?
Can anyone give me a link to Super Metroid - Limit IPS patch?

I'm pretty soon done with completing Impossible and need a new hack.

Here's the list of hacks

All the good hacks :p

Im (TRYING) to make a little hack with smile, but 1) Every room looks just like a big glitch pile and 2) how am I supposed to know what room "75566323600k2 something something" is?
I cant edit a room if the room doesn't look right and I dont know what the room numbers are.
So, did I like download the wrong version or something?
Because I have no idea how to do anything on it.

(BTW, if its not too much trouble, could someone say which version to download it and where to save it? I have no idea how to get this working.

A couple of rooms in SMILE, such as Kraid's room and some of Ceres Station, are impossible to edit and do look like "glitch piles". Try opening other random rooms and see what you get. Also, keep in mind that the game has to make ALL room data rectangular, so there's going to be some random stuff in places the game doesn't scroll to. Scroll around in a room you load to make sure it's not actually glitched.

If everything IS still glitched, make sure the clean ROM you selected when installing SMILE is actually a totally normal Super Metroid ROM, and the one you're editing is a different, but still normal one (I recommend copy-and-paste, here Wink ).  If not, get a clean one and reinstall the latest version of SMILE ( jathys.zophar.net ).

As for the crazy hex identifiers, the problem can be somewhat circumvented by doing the following: Load a random room off the list.  While your mouse is over a door, shift-right-click. A menu will pop up. Choose Enter Door. This way, you can manually travel to the room you want to edit. After a while, you'll get a feel for the general region a given room will be in. That said, it also doesn't hurt just to write down the IDs of important rooms; the list is in numerical order.

Doing things on it in general: Unfortunately, there is no FAQ at the moment. There's a fairly complete one to be found on the Japanese hack site, but that, of course, is written in the infuriating Engrish of Google Translator. I've found the best way to learn things is just to mess around with a "trash copy" of a ROM, where you don't care if you accidentally delete an entire door beyond recovery or cause all the graphics to go wonky (for future reference, do NOT try to add rooms to Ceres Station; terrible, horrible things result, no matter how much you mess with the room FX). Above all, do as I say and not as I do, and take a while to mess around before posting specific questions, as the answers usually present themselves after perhaps a half-hour of trying not to punch the monitor.

IN SHORT: hope this helps, sorry it's so long, and does anyone know what to do about the room transitions of doom? They're showing up at other random doors, too.
Lots of questions about SMILE 1.0:

How do I change what type of door a door is?
All I can change is the appearance of the door.
(Shooty Eye Door was opened with Power Beam, and it didn't even shoot at me)

How do I make pickups "Pickupable" ?
I went right through the missile expansion I had made to get past that door.

How do I change the Morph Ball Pickup into, lets say... a Power Bomb?

How do you edit the health of enemies?
I want to make alot of them in the same room easier, but I want a random one to be ALOT harder. (25 super missiles on a zoomer FTW)

How can I edit bosses into odd places?
(Example, Gold Torizo in the place of the other one)

Is it possible to edit things that aren't in the game into the game?
(Example, Bahamut from Final Fantasy into Super Metroid)

I noticed I could edit any ememy into Crocomire, would I be able to make an alternate place to battle Crocomire?

Also, why are my blocks solid and working, but nearly nothing else?
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
Doors, Power Bombs, Missiles, Items, Gates, Recharge Stations, ect. are called "PLMs*" and if you right click them and click type, you can choose from any item from the scroll menu.

Same with enemys, plus all the enemy stats are editable.

That being said, the missiles and stuff that are actually PLMs under the map (all the blocks) don't work as PLMs (AFAIK)

I'm not sure about the bosses
SMILE can't insert some random character into the game (you would have to asm hack it yourself to do that)

*what does PLM stand for?

So, any item that is already there can be changed, but I cant just insert random items anywhere?

And i can edit all of the enemies stats?

And those that are under the map dont work, right?

I think I understand it now.
Thanks.

you can add more or lees enemies/PLMs by going to Edit - Special - Enemy/PLM (+/-)

The blocks work but not the PLMs, confusing innit :-s

Very confusing.

Also, how do you make slopes?

I've tried lots of ways but cant make any.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
Under the list of rooms, there's a button the says "BTS*", there, choose the type of block shape you want

*What does BTS stand for?

Thanks.

(Maybe it means Block Type Slope? There are different types of slopes (yellow, green) and its a block, so it makes sence)

Also, I have one more question. (Too many questions today. Shocked  )

When I finish this (if I ever do) how can I make it so that other people can play it?
I have absolutely no idea how to do that, and this might actualy be a good game.
I know that its probably by making it downloadable, but I have no idea how to do that either.

SMILE can make an IPS patch. Go under Tools->IPS->Create a Patch. Unfortunately there is an existing issue when saving it. For some reason it saves, but the resulting file is never really "saved" in that it does not display in the folder where you are saving it to. You are better off saving the rom, then creating the IPS with LunarIPS.

Here's a stumper.

I was just replaying through Limit and got to the blue suit room. Last time, I shinesparked up and everything went just fine. This time, the shinespark carried through in the manner that it does when your emulator doesn't support the elevator-shinespark glitch.

Same emulator as before, same ROM as before. My question: huh?
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
I'm not sure (nor have I tested) but I think the position you spark makes a difference, like how you can spark up though those 2 pixel platforms when escaping zebes in the long vertical shaft with all the space pirates

Good thinking, but no luck there. I should add that I have savestates of both cases. One works every time I've tried, the other doesn't.
I do believe that the amount of items that you've collected so far makes a difference.  I was in the same position you were, with two savestates of the same rom and and emulator and whatnot...  Same results.  The only difference I could find was the amount of items I had collected was causing the bluesuit not to activate.

Bosses deafeated: Phantoon, Crocmire

I've explored Crateria and Brinstar also, but all I seem to be finding are entrances to Maridia and dead ends. I'm wondering what to do next. From the looks of it I need either the Grappling Beam or Gravity Suit.
