I've noticed there are always a couple of guests viewing people profiles, viewing and printing all kinds of new and old topics, and I just have to wonder what they're doing.  Perhaps they are trying to get everything printed out, saved on their computer, and everything archived.  Maybe they're sending spam mail to every e-mail address they find.  Is there any way to find out if it's the some people every time?

Guests are free to do what they want with what they have access to. If you don't want your email address spammed, don't make it public.

Guests who aren't forum savy will print stuff out to help them. Thats what i used to do here. Believe it or not i came here a few years after this forum opened but i didn't have an email, or new what it was.  Embarassed

The majority of guests are bots. They tend to view profiles and do weird things like printing, it seems.

Guest bots are not "printing" stuff. They're merely viewing the print-ready pages of whatever they're viewing, since those strip almost all of the colors and special stylings and markups from the page they're accessing, which makes it easier for the bot to read the actual information on that page.

i would like to believe bots know how to use forums but i highly doubt it. if i had a dime for every time i've searched for something on google and gotten someone else asking the exact same question in a forum topic with no replies ...

Haha, that's one of the major banes of the internet for me. I get excited when I see a result, but then it's just another person asking the same thing. ;(

If you click on the number of users at the bottom of the index, it'll show you a list of all active users and guests in the order of their most recent activity, as well as what they're doing and when they did it.

And it says in "Who's Online" what a person's activities are, so it tends to show up as
Guest                                                  Printing the topic...

Actually, ironically, it's even MORE likely for GameFAQs to be mentioned around here than it is for the Galactic Federation to be mentioned, in spite of and because of our disgust of GFAQs. I guess people don't really hate fusion so much as they just don't care.

Actually, you did miss the point. Sure, it could be read as sarcasm and still make sense, and it's true that I don't personally prefer GFAQs, but that post actually had a different meaning.

Also, I didn't catch any sarcasm in your post at all. Sarcasm is saying one thing to mean the exact opposite of its literal meaning. I think your post used imagery, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the best fitting term.

I'm sorry, but you're not as smart as you think, and acting like you're above everyone generally just gets annoying in the first place.
