If I understand what you're saying, you're wrong.

Quote from Baby Sheegoth:
But you can go SW39>GTH>LGA>Artifact of Chozo>Ghosts>X-ray>HBJ out> SW16>LGA>GTH>Ceiling warp into Great Tree Chamber

Did people actually number SWs in MP1 like that? Where exactly did you get those numbers from?

Just in order of when they were discovered... couldn't remember the names so I said the SW number
Life is a speedrun!!!
Haha check this out!

Sideways video is sideways.
I have noticed the pirates can be glitchy in that room.

yeah lots of dumb pirate ai in ppc. here's one i recorded several years back: http://samuel.arkarian.org/sda_meetup_2009/cowardtrooper.avi
Reminds me of this one I found when I first started running.

I think I may have shared before, but not in a few years.

Also, stumbled across this while boosting through shore tunnel
It happened on a second attempt as well, but I was able to boost out of it after about half a second. Seems to have something do do with it being right at the end of the breakable section.

rocks, locks, and invisible blocks
Locking onto a grapple point and putting on the scan visor on the same frame has some interesting results... For starters, you can switch beams while the scan visor is up. You can also shoot, thought it takes the scan visor off, there is no animation for the gun to raise up before shooting and you shot much sooner. Also some weird graphical issues with samus' arm missing when you lock onto things. (still looking into this)
Edit: you can get some weird jittery camera angles if you do the glitch but stay locked onto the grapple point (in scan visor) then enter a "walking off a ledge stage"

alternative method.
I'm working on my fangame "Metroid:
Has anyone beat the game without the Gravity Suit? If so did you notice how many times Samus' suit changes between Varia and Gravity after you defeat Metroid Prime?

i heard there's a site where you can watch direct-feed videos of tricks like that
turns out you can do some interesting stuff if you fight op from behind:

hahaha that's great
loving low%
As I was crossing GTH for the first time during a 22% SS attempt, I shot the Seedling (blue squidhead) for missile refill. I got it and took damage from the poison cloud of the Bloodflower that's positioned above the platform where I was. Everything is normal until I get down from the platform; the "you're taking damage from that green poison at the moment"-noise didn't go away! I thought; it for sure will go away when I take the Elevator to upper Phazon Mines. But no; it didn't go away. O_o
I had to let the SFX on 100% because I wanted to hear the bombs I place for the HPBJ iN vent Shaft for example, so I just let it on for most of the run. It was screwing me over, of course, but I didn't want to reset after like 38 minutes and so I just made my way through it all. I almost got another 22% SS done; just after the Artifact of Sun I had a hilarious collision with a Pulse Bombu and died. I wasn't even too worried about it wouldn't have probably become a personal best, so... But guess what; the noise didn't even go away AFTER I restarted directly from the Gamoe Over screen, as I was "reborn" in Central Dynamo Savestation after the Power Bomb upgrade. The only thing I could was going to the Title Screen/ Main Menu in order to make that noise go away.
The "run/ attempt" is available. I posted it in my 22% SS topic.
Did something like that happen to anyone of you? IIRC, I once read something similar by ItsPersonnal and that he was rather happy as he finally died in one of his (any%?) Single Segment attepmts. I had that noise going on for about exactly 1 hour before I died. Would have been 1.5 hours if I had finished the run rather than died. It was so screwing me over...
i've had that happen before with the venom weed. *shudders*

it can also happen with the charge beam, boost ball, and some other sound effects. i once had it happen in the middle of a cutscene so who knows what causes it.

MP2 also a bit MP1 speedrunning

Okay, theres quite a few things going on in that video, first why the hell didnt the omega pirate die from that power bomb, also look at me being completely confused and jumpscared as i turned on my visor and getting omega pirates fist in the face, leading to a death, afterwards i shoot a plasma shot 2 seconds after dying for some reason.
Uh did the omega pirate not dying have something to do with the fact that it ended its second regeneration phase with 3 pieces of armor instead of 2? Because I noticed that normally he ends with 2.

power bombs don't always do damage to OP, if you're timing isn't spot on, then he'll do what he did there. Also depending on when you lay the power bomb, you can do very small-very large amounts of damage.

Did you see that guy freaking around in the wall in my video? :D
In the one you showed he just got bounced back, though in my he was glitching around like insane in the walls LOL

that dash is really difficult.
so there really is a crater. nice.
amazing dash and climb of the artifact temple, with a nice half pipe action as reward.

Now find that elevator in Phozon Mines!
I run this here hotel of an evening
