Quote from Daryoshi:
There are those extremely annoying (especially while running SS) crashes in the 0-00 Version, which - really (?) RANDOMLY?!?- occur in West Furnace Access (coming from either Energy Core or Furnace) and in the elevator to Chozo Ruins West.
It's always been said that there is no (clear) evidence about those crashes, but I want to ask nonetheless: Has anybody made at least some testing with what causes the game to just freeze?
I once tried to "let" the crash happen in WFA, but after many tries and some quite awkward "testing" (over 10 minutes), the game just won't crash, but in the last any% SS, after collecting the MB-B as I wanted to collect the 2nd E-T to "play safe", the game crashed. That just had to be or what?!?Brick wall
Does it make sense when I come up with the idea of these rooms not having fully loaded or secreticed or whatsoever?! And: WSA has NEVER crashed to me as I was in HUMAN form; all crashed occured as I used BB or at least Morph Ball. Any ideas?

Another question: When coming from BB and Wave Beam (at least in any% without IBBF), how much time does it take LONGER to take the way back to the elevator to Chozo Ruins SOUTH instead of going to Tallon Overworld first and from there, take the fucking elevator to Chozo Ruins WEST for the Artifact of Lifegiver, Ice Beam, and so on? 40 seconds or something like that?  Because it doesn't seem like THAT much of a detour, but hey, for me it's going to be difficult to cut of a few more minutes again and those 40 seconds or so would help a lot...

I actually did some good testing on this a while back, as I'm the owner of an original Gamecube, NTSC 0-00, a 2007 Nintendo Wii, and a computer good enough to play it on Dolphin.

Essentially, the 'in room' crashes are solved very simply. They are caused by going too fast with a laser that cannot keep up with the read speed of the 0-00 loading engine. This causes (at least in my admittedly small knowledge) a stack overflow in the game's memory where it is overwhelmed by data and unable to keep up with the speed of the player. Later versions (0-01 and 0-02) fix this crash.

The Chozo elevator is an interesting deviation from this. From what I can tell, a disc being scratched has a lot to do with it. Running 0-00 on Dolphin time after time hasn't ever given me a crash - and I also can't think of a time where 0-00 has on me in the Wii.

EDIT: Shit, I didn't mean to double post this.

Ah okay I think I understand better now, thanks!
But I'm playing on Wii since I bought a Freeloader which also works for Wii and not only for Gamecube. As expected, WSA and said Elevator never crashed while playing on Wii, but just recently, another crash that I didn't even know of, occured WHILE PLAYING ON WII, as I was heading towards MQA (Metroid Quarantine A), just after that room with the 4 turrets that can cause you MASSIVE damage, which could -perhaps- be the reason why it crashed, but I'm totally unsure. I was in-bounds, without cheats and just practicing the normal Segment where you go from Central Dynamo Savestation to Metroid Quarantine B Savestation. Idk why this happened and was frightened as hell. I per chance recorded it:
Don't change beams and visors at the same time while entering MQA.
loving low%
Ah okay I didn't think of that possibility. But does it always crash then? As I think I changed them more or less at the same time, as Ice Beam is needed to freeze the Metroids and Scan Visor is needed before you can go on at all, so... Are there other rooms where this can happen by doing this?
sw using floaty jump from the crashed frigate:

so basically i found a method for getting floaty jump on the crashed frigate. as miles posted in the research topic, you have to be in a body of water as it unloads. the first tentacle room's water box extends far enough to reach hydro access tunnel's door so that as you transition, the tentacle room unloads and activates floaty jump. what's interesting is right as i activated floaty jump the fog started so this might actually be what caused the fog glitch that people have noticed when going through the crashed frigate backwards. when i actually went and physically got floaty jump oob a second layer of fog activated and that's why everything is completely blue.

once again sorry for the video quality (not like you can see anything anyway)
getting there...

I think I understand what you did from the text description, but a video showing exactly how you activated the initial floaty jump glitch would be greatly appreciated.
It's really nice to know that the one time I got floaty jump in the underwater frigate wasn't just some freak glitch and that it can actually be done reliably.

Edit: Finding a situation where it's possible to do this in Phendrana would be really interesting. There are a lot of potential SWs there, unlike Tallon where you can already get out of every room without floaty jump. Lol.

activating fj on tallon:

make sure to stand at the very edge of the door, move left and ghetto backwards.

3 potential sw's if fj were found in phendrana: quarantine cave, elevator near thardus, and frozen pike.

also the only other things that you could maybe do with fj on tallon are getting x-ray without pbs by doing an ibj out of the morph ball tunnel in the ceiling (not sure if this is possible) and leaving artifact temple mid meta ridley fight.

was browsing around the forum and came across this post so i decided to give it a try: https://m2k2.taigaforum.com/post/glitches1196.html

basically i waited in the first room that you encounter prime for about 24 hours and when i jumped down prime seemed to be oob and pulled me against the wall. afaict you can't break free of this.

wonder what would happen if you waited even longer. at any rate, this could potentially lead to something.

this is a seriously cool glitch, but i don't see how it could be useful for anything - you're already at the end of the game, right? still, it would be fun to see where you could wallcrawl to from that chamber

I guess I should post this here. http://www.twitch.tv/itspersonnaltoo/c/3253502
I was just messing around with floaty jump in Chozo and I managed to find a way to get that weird blue fog there by killing flaahgra before starting the fight.

Possible OoB in pirate labs? ....
It looked like you got in the room but it didn't transition properly?
that's a wtr glitch not a sw. you can do that on most vertical doors and other rooms that you can enter without transitioning and have the door close on you.

Already doable with a near perfect HBJ, tried in emulator
i tested it using an ibj and couldn't get out. it seemed like it was sealed. now that i think about it i don't really see why that would lead to a sw anyway. i'd be interested in seeing a video of that.

Did you fight the ghosts first?
actually that's a very good idea. good thinking.

so what you're saying is that you can bomb jump from the x-ray area to the upper area, then from there get back oob? you could definitely make it through the tunnel with an ibj. so i guess x-ray without pbs is possible.

Yeah, it was something I investigated out of pure random interest a year or two ago. If you don't kill the ghosts then you can't leave (the ghosts destroy a 'bird under-mouth' that's in the way). But you can go SW39>GTH>LGA>Artifact of Chozo>Ghosts>X-ray>HBJ out> SW16>LGA>GTH>Ceiling warp into Great Tree Chamber

i remember doors in mp2 being non-solid when the room isnt transitioned... am i wrong? or does that only count for mp2?

If I understand what you're saying, you're wrong.

Did people actually number SWs in MP1 like that? Where exactly did you get those numbers from?

wasn't that an scu thing?
