I see now, hero. I didn't want to go into much detail in the YouTube description, but just mentioning the minimal requirements for it to work.

The reason why Varia MUST be de-equipped is because you need to fool the game engine thinking you still have enough energy for another MB-beam attack (which you would indeed have if Varia was equipped) so that it allows you to stand up again. As Kej said, the check for the stand up seems to happen before MB's beam is even finished, so it fails to realize that your energy would be too low after it. That way your low energy finally triggers MB to make the Metroid joining beam in the last moment, but since the stand up possibility gets decided way before the beam attack, you can just do so, despite that it shouldn't be possible in this conditions.

It would be great if a solution exists to make this glitch work with both suits on, but thinking realistic about all the facts mentioned before, it just can't work out.

Good luck to try though, maybe you can indeed come with something completely unexpected, as improbable as it may be.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
You can think outside the box and instead of tricking Mother Brain into letting you stand up, break the game engine and MAKE it let you stand up.

simple extensions of the stand-up glitch (though done via Blue Suit instead of Varia Suit)

Blue suit, ay?

Almost happy
I've seen it before (same video) and I doubt it is a legitimate glitch that is reproducable.

Seems more likely that it is hacked or something.

I've heard of a 'Ridley stuck in a floor' glitch, *I*IRC it had something to do with the murderbeam
I've had ridley get stuck under normal circumstances, but he gets unstuck quickly. He looked like he did in that movie, started moving again after a couple of shots.
Embarrasing Fact: Power suit made by lowest bidder
It's a genuine glitch. It's happened to me when I was recording a low percent run, actually, I might still have the zmvs of it somewhere.
What happens is Ridley dives down to start a tail stomp, but comes at such an angle/position that the tail never hits the middle platform nor the block on the bottom right corner. It's influenced a lot by Samus's position, actually, though I don't remember why from the code. Anyways, Ridley's position is confined to a certain rectangle, and he will simply stop instead of ever passing that wall. So Ridley will never go down far enough for his tail to reach the very bottom blocks of the screen, nor will he drift left (or right) enough for his tail to hit the far corner blocks. So Ridley is stuck forever in a falling pose, waiting for his tail to hit the ground before he does something else, which it never will.
I've never heard of Ridley getting unstuck by himself from it though, even if he drops to 0 health. You have to lay a power bomb to force his AI to immediately go into PB reaction mode.

I may have laid a pb, its entirely possible. It was quite awhile that this happened to me, though I'm pretty sure he just got unstuck.

I've found a glitch where Samus gets a blue suit but can't shinespark.  I found it while trying to do a speed boosted mockball in Maridia.  It goes away once you start sprinting or charging the beam or also if you hit the cancel button.  It also goes away if you change weapons.

Here it is.

Yeah, that's the sand glitch. Purely graphical, and already known :P
Ahh, I see.  Well, at least I found something I didn't know about.  Still somewhat proud that I stumbled upon  a glitch. ;)

Ownt?

Haha, awesome. Just proves even more how pwnt nintendo's coding can be

Lol..
I've seen that before. It's quite funny that she gains momentum like that.
Right, found out how to get an early missile expansion.

In Norfair, there is a large green room. To the left are three doors. The bottom one leads to a long room, the middle to a save station, and the top to a missile expansion.

However, you cannot get to the top room without first getting the grappling beam to swing over.

BUT!

If you use the Ice beam on the little creatures that fly around and then jump on top of them, you can get onto the floor where the door is without the grappling beam! Yay!!!

That's supposed to be qualified as a sequence break, not a glitch per se. I've done that in my console runs.

As an RE to namespoofer's video, that's probably the effect of when the developers never intended for you to shinespark in lava. Maybe I should try that when I'm underwater, sans Gravity.

Well you can do that without icebeam too, either if have hi-jump and are decent at walljumping or if you can do infinite bombjump. Also IIRC there are 3 missiles and a R-tank there.

Hi-Jump is not needed for that WJ up there O.o

an* R-tank : )

Well I was just reciting from the top of my head, I did not remember that the ledge contra the wall was such a short distance apart that it was possible without hi-jump. Dunno how easy it is without tool assistance though.

I've done it without high jump, but it's pretty difficult. I'd put it right between PB 66 and walljumping up the right side to get to the speed booster.
With high jump makes it about as easy as walljumping up the right side.

Well shit.. Kriole got it and Kejardon too.. I seem to be teh only 1 who can't get it in realtime >.>
Gravity Suit room entrance from the wrong side, optimally performed:

Saves almost a half minute compared to the usual entrance via the Statue.

Enjoy!

Wait did you know about this before or did you just test it after what was said at tasvideos yesterday?
