Yeah, I've encountered this fadeout quirk before. Unfortunately, it's entirely useless as it doesn't save any time (both in-game and otherwise) at all. It just holds Samus longer on one spot instead of moving her further down the elevator.
Almost happy
Yes i was afraid that was the truth, and even if it would have worked it would'nt have been fit for anything but a TAS wich goes for the ultimate ingame time.

Also if you pause just before going to another room (and i mean really close to trigger the switch room scene) the screen stays black until you press start again, have destroyed a couple of my segmented runs by waisting seconds of running in black.

As I played SM Impossible, I accidentally managed to Kago-Ball into the drone right above Phantoon's room. I bombed the bottom-most morph tunnel out...and got stuck inside it. >_< I thought it could be practical for speedruns, but since it gets you stuck, that kind of defeats the purpose.

I think that glitching through the robots is known and used at least in TASes.

Is there any place it can actually help in a real speedrun, though? Like for getting an item early?

Only on the bottom deck (the eyedoor room), if you manage to both kagoball through the robot and continue mockballing thereafter. Otherwise, there's pretty much no useful application to it, especially during the no-power phase.

Well also JXQ glitches through the robots a couple of times in his 100% TAS, but not in the way JaggerG explains it, it kind of looks like the zebite glitch.
Once S.S. is dead, walljumping off of him causes him to jiggle. O_o Is this some well-known fact, or have I just discovered the most useless easter egg ever?

I couldn't find anything else that had a similar effect (bombs, etc), so I'm pretty sure some programmer actually spent time implementing a walljump jiggle.
It's known.  Might be in Brickroad's glitch FAQ.

Aren't there other things that jiggle from walljumps?  I'd expect it wouldn't be something specific to Spore Spawn but a property of whatever type of object it is that he becomes after defeat.
Armor Guardian
Walljumping off of any sprite causes it to jiggle. You can even do it on frozen enemies.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
and those blocks with with faces in blue Brinstar
I remembered it was called Shaking the Dead or something. I can't remember which site I saw it on, though...

Maybe Samus.co.uk?
red chamber dream
hmm ... never heard of it.
Yep. Spore Spawn, Those Blue Square Blocks with faces in Blue Brinstar, and Frozen Enemies are the only ones that I can recall off the top of my head. I am sure there are more...

I've noticed that auto-close/reopen shutters jiggle, but I'm not sure if it's only those kind or auto-shutters in general.
Yeah, I found out last night that it works on frozen enemies too.

"Shaking the Dead"... I like that. Needlessly ominous. :D
It also works on certain parts of Crocomire :P.
I like Big Butts and I can not lie
and Funes and Strechies

I can vouch for Funes, but I thought Strechies had another t in it (before the letter "ch")

Funes and Nami's then. Or I could just call them E2BBs and E73Fs
Didn't it work on that Maridia turtle too? That walljumping shaking thing.

And of course it works on frozen enemies.
After getting the SpringBall (for the 2nd time after doing the reset glitch) I was running back through that tunnel that was dug, I was dashing and firing the ice/plazma ...ray  ...thing.  :?  Anyway, I shoot open the door going back out of that room (going left), jump out...  That thing is exploding and I'm getting a shine spark charge (not from pressing down -just running) but as I go through the door the game starts to slow down.  The screen scrolls over as if I'm going over to the next room, but it freezes and...  that was it.

Had to reset.

Edit:  Why was I getting the Spring Ball?  I was getting everything again.  I was mainly curious if I could get 200%.  :P
