Rundas had a great everything. I would play a Rundas spinoff.
Also, on topic, I fought the first Omega. Those things are no joke! Probably the first thing that's outright better than AM2R's version, it seems like a much more varied and well-telegraphed boss design.
Is that an alternate control scheme or a bug I have never heard about?
I think it was an intended feature in Fusion. Like zeldacia said, you would hold B to continuously charge your beam and press R to release the blast. The advantage of this over letting go of B is that you maintain a spin jump and/or space jump and can keep shooting over and over. You could cheese bosses like Ridley in Fusion with that move.

It's also useful for space boosting (speed boosting while space jumping)
With the exception of the Surface/"Tunnel" theme, the Chozo Ruins theme, and the Baby Metroid theme, none of which had arrangements that really impressed me in SR.
Ok something really weird just happened. I'm on fusion mode and I was fighting the gamma in area 2 and I shot it with a charged ice beam and it immediately turned red. Then I shot it with one missile and it died. No clue what caused this. It was close to the ceiling of the room and going right. Maybe I hit it on the same frame it was attacking or turning. If it's triggered by something it could be useful in speedruns. And unfortunately I had no way of recording this. I'll try replicating it to figure out what might have caused it. Can't guarantee I'll be able to if it's frame perfect or something like that.
