Honestly after getting wave beam/plasma beam i hardly had to use the melee counter, i just spammed my beams at everything and plowed through areas without it. I think the melee was more of an early game mechanic that was mastered so that there was a way to counter tough enemies without the strong beams later on. Because if you dont get those counters, shit will kill you lol; i died so many times just trying to rush through an area. They also make it so that you have the counter mastered before you get to TOUGH enemies, which rely on masterful countering to be able to beat them quickly and efficiently.
this is my favorite part about the counter system too. i've always, always thought 2d metroids were really annoying in the early game because of how much time it takes to simply traverse a corridor. there's always been way too much waiting and dodging, and all of that is completely gone in this game
I remember I was so happy when I found the plasma beam. I love that thing. I also remember the gravity suit being pretty close by but it took me an hour to find it after the plasma beam cause I took an elevator on the way there
Getting the Plasma, Gravity Suit, and Screw Attack were verbal declarations of "YEEESSSS" because ive missed them so so much. Also, that gravity suit design tho... ;u;
The Prime games are all good. Prime 1 is just even better
I'm in area 3 now. Gotta admit I'm not exactly digging the music in this game. It started off pretty well on the surface which had a nice remix iirc, and everything since then has been weak ambiant sounds. They could have done a lot more even if more remixes
My special edition came finally and the soundtrack CD is really good. It's got all the music on it that stood out for me, like the Dark Samus theme, the Echoes GC title screen, the new lower norfair, and the Corruption credits music.
I was listening to it in my car and someone in my car said: What's this music? I said 'It's a soundtrack from Metroid.' They said 'Oh I love that movie!'
It would be kinda cool if Dread turned out to be Prime 4. They did refer to Dread in a scan found in Corruption after all. The only thing I'm confident about when it comes to Prime 4 is that it will have something to do with Sylux.
