I find it kinda funny that abbreviation is MOM. I don't know why it's just funny to me. But I do like that they used some of the combat elements from Other M in Samus Returns
Man wasnt it great how Samus Returns introduced melee counters to Metroid and yet it still managed to keep the classic metroid feel even with that new mechanic?

yeah this is possibly my favorite thing about the game
going in, i was worried i wouldn't like the melee at all. never mind that!
Yeah, I think the game relies on melee too much. You start doing it in the second room and then you spend the rest of the game doing the same thing to essentially the same enemies.
I didn't say it's too easy, I said it's too good for how easy it is, because it replaces actually dodging enemies. I was so sad when I found out you can parry the little rolly guys out of their roll
Does anyone know how powerful the super missiles are in this game? is it triple like super and fusion or 5X like zero mission? (apologies if all my question get annoying. It's a bad habit I have)

I actually use missiles and the ice beam a lot because I don't have the patience to wait a split sec for enemies to burst into me
Honestly after getting wave beam/plasma beam i hardly had to use the melee counter, i just spammed my beams at everything and plowed through areas without it. I think the melee was more of an early game mechanic that was mastered so that there was a way to counter tough enemies without the strong beams later on. Because if you dont get those counters, shit will kill you lol; i died so many times just trying to rush through an area. They also make it so that you have the counter mastered before you get to TOUGH enemies, which rely on masterful countering to be able to beat them quickly and efficiently.
So no, its not too good for how easy it is, I argue that is necessary for early game survival and then can be abandoned once the good shit is acquired.
