Really wish Hard or Fusion was a freeroam mode where all the locks are open or put some other secret shortcuts in to make the game just about item progression, seems like a missed opportunity

actually yeah i'm using ibjs to get a bunch of stuff seemingly early

they're incredibly easy to do in this game though, so i'm sure it was taken into account
I just pressed bomb using a certain rhythm and would ibj faster than in any other game.  I used it to get to a few places that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to get to, but I can't remember what I got (if anything) from doing it.
Got a time of 13:03 for 100% completion. And the game actually progressed past the clear time screen this time. The first time I finished it, earlier today before getting the last few items, it crashed right after that: just got stuck on the black screen and wouldn't go anywhere. Which also meant it didn't record the file as completed or unlock Hard Mode until this time around.

Despite the annoyance of that and that one technique, I'm very happy with this game.

i liked area 1 a lot, and i'm enjoying area 2 even more. this game is great

opium: i just used ibj to reach a warp station early. i've also gotten missile tanks and access to a few areas

it's all in places where goop on the walls is meant to keep you from using spider ball. i assume i need high jump or some other technique to reach the warp station i just found
yeah those are the places I used it in too.  All I know is when I was done with the area, the whole map was filled in regardless so I have no idea if it saved me any time.

The queen is kicking my ass.  This game could have really benefited from a morph button.  It's very difficult to morph in mid air with the circle pad, and you can't use the d-pad.  You can tap the map screen but it only works if you tap it in just the right spot - like right in the center of the touch screen.  And there's one attack that I can't figure out how to dodge at all.  Like there's not one safe place on the whole screen.

I never felt the need to morph in mid-air during that fight. Which attacks are you having trouble with?
It's the one with the green balls.  Once she starts doing it, she doesn't stop doing it.  I managed to dodge it a few times but she just keeps repeating it until I die.  Is there something you have to do to make her switch to another attack?  I've done the power bomb on her twice in the same fight and she just spits me back out.
morphing in mid air is very helpful when you want to spider on the wall or ceiling. Without it, you have to start on the floor.
she's dead.  I guess third time is a charm.

there was one key thing I wasn't doing.  Once I realized what I had to do the fight was much easier.  That's been kind of the theme with boss fights in this game.

it's crazy how perfect the item progression feels so far. i just started area 3. this might just be my favorite 2d metroid ... the controls and new mechanics are all so great. it never gets boring because you can change up between using a lot of melee counters vs just shooting everything

guess all it took to make a great metroid game was bringing in a new dev. huh, just like prime ...
Pretty sure Sakamoto is responsible for level design ... I wouldn't trust MS with anything but making a parry button

I'm doing hard mode right now :P
Halfway through Hard but 2x damage is so lazy that it doesn't feel any different
Amateur Speedrunner, Roleplayer
it is to me because i'm bad at the game XD
Just mean compared to the GBA Hard modes, would've taken them 5 more seconds to do, like, c'mon
Amateur Speedrunner, Roleplayer
Oh yeah true XD

i don't want to imagine getting fewer supplies though
Is 2X damage the only change?
Yeah apparently so, and Fusion mode is cosmetic Fusion suit and 4x damage, yawn
Amateur Speedrunner, Roleplayer
in fusion mode i've gotten up to the varia suit
Anyone got the amiibo Reserve Tanks? Do they work just like Super?
Amateur Speedrunner, Roleplayer
kinda. you have to refill them at the refill stations. energy one refills 299 energy, missile one refills 10 supers (not sure about regular missiles) aeion refills 500 or 750 points of aeion (not entirely sure)
I've activated them all but only the aeion one was ever used.  My aeion was depleted and it put about 10% of it back.  Not very helpful.
