Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
Okey dokey!  Since I replayed it recently, I want a proper sequel (maybe even a remake) of Syndicate, like they recently made for Settlers 2.  'SELECTED.'

Christmas RAGE!
Theres this AWESOME game called Stranded 2. Its basically an island survival game where you make shelter, hunt, join pirates, kill raptors, and ALOT of other stuff. Its made by unrealsoftware. Its completely free and fully moddable. You can make spears, bows, arrows, ect. from materials found around you. There are many mods for it but I recommend Massive Mod (google is your friend) In that mod you have to make a simple grill(wood w wood) on a fire and toss the food onto the grill. It is MUCH more realistic than the original.

Download it at

I haven't played any videogames in a week (apart from 5 minutes of tetris last night. Oh, and some messing around with the Korg DS-10 synth) because I'm focused on completing Majora's Mask, but feel I need to set aside a good hour or two to actually accomplish anything, something I've been unable to do.
the best game in the world is...

...descent 1 or 2(with the d2x xl mod)
Not impossible
just highly unlikely

i'll start: new prince of persia game announced, and it's apparently returning to the sands of time storyline and style. be excited.

If they stick to pattern (win/fail/win/fail) this game should be a win. I'll miss the art style of the new PoP but I can't say I'll miss the storyline. I've never not wanted to do what the game forced me to do more than at the ending of PoP.

Sweet fuck yes. As long as they don't turn it into a damn fps or some shit.

I'm thinking #20 and #21 should have at least been in the top ten. The list is causing alot of buzz.  If you google it, you will find much discussion and disagreeing over it.  The magazine's chief editor came up with his top 11 games of all time, and metroid and super metroid were #1 & #2, but I guess that didn't affect the final list too much.  Metroid Prime is like #85 while halo is in the 30's ?!  Discuss.

I also read that, but it seemed fair enough to me. Majority of people prefer halo over metroid.

I actually agree with you on that one. The xbox 360 was made for these kinda people:

All of the jocks at my school are obsessed with the 360, along with Halo, MW2, <insert generic FPS title for 360 here>, and of course Madden.
That list seems to have a good majority of my favorites on it from quickly scanning through it once or twice. I'd definitely disagree with the order though. What are X-COM and Yoshi's Island doing that low on the list, for example?
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
As with everything else, they're just opinions, and may well have been influenced by what they were playing at the time.  I remember when I worked in a shop, and was surrounded by games all day, those that weren't normally into FPS's got hooked on Halo, simply because it was what we were playing to death at the time.  Perhaps they were influenced by something similar.  You could also argue that they have the right games, but in the wrong order, deliberately, as they're certainly getting some attention.

Huh, what is LoZ1 doing in spot 1?  Was this list determined by how the games influenced the industry?  Otherwise, it's really hard to see putting LoZ1 above Link to the Past; LoZ1 (much like Metroid 1) feels like an unrefined exploration of its genre.

Super Mario Bros 1, on the other hand, is still mega fantastic to this day. 8)

IIRC, the games were judged on everything (whatever that means) according to its own time.  In other words, the graphics of LoZ would only be compared to other games in it's day.  I'm assuming that strengths such as how groundbreaking of a game it is would also be viewed in time context, since the same ground can't be broken over & over.  I can totally see how LoZ could be #1, in fact I regarded it to be #1 for a very long time.  Where I sit today though, I can think of a handful of games that I think are better in every category except influence.  I personally think OoT should be #1, even though everyone is tired of hearing that.  In my opinion, nothing has topped it yet.  #20 is just plain wrong for that game.
#20 is really, really high, if you think about how many other games there are in total.
The size of the game list is irrelevant, because even if it was only ten games long, it still considers all of the games out there.  There simply are not 19 games out there that are better than OoT, imo.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
If I were to make a best twenty games ever list Ocarina of Time would not be on it.

that doesn't make any sense. it's a top games "of all time" list, not a "top games of their time" list. first zelda is pretty lame.

Well yeah, there's definitely nothing wrong with that considering the thousands of games that have been created over the 30+ years of gaming, to mirror what Gamma Metroid said. I just hold some, like X-COM and Yoshi's Island, in very high regard and wouldn't even consider many of the ones on the list. (Because there are a lot of them I've never played, actually, or else I didn't think they were as good as others do)

Obviously whenever a list like this is made, you can never get the order right to the point where there is little argument. Everyone's tastes are different, and not everyone has had the chance to play a fair portion of those that make these sorts of lists. And in the end, this is one list and won't change my perspective on my favorites. (It would be nice if certain games could get more recognition then they normally do, though.)

They should make something similar to those game genre rankings we discussed earlier, except instead of genres getting rated, it would be the various aspects of a game, like the graphics, storyline, music, gameplay, etc.

i'd be happy to do it if someone provided icons for each.
