i dunno, do you? if a game does it right and it's part of the story, seeing just how fucked up the bad guys can get can really add something to the experience. same with movies. some do it well, some don't. and yeah most games don't, but if they don't try they never will.

Problem is most games really shouldn't be trying anyway. Don't have enough of a story to make it anything useful.

So for the most part the Microsoft conference was pretty boring for me. Other than a few moments (Tomb Raider being one of them) I wasn't really interested in anything they showed. Halo looked just like the other ones as did most of the sequels they showed off from what little I know of each series. Now I know I'll give Halo 4 a shot after it comes out despite that but it never was a high priority on my list and seeing this isn't doing it any favors.

Gotta admit though that the conference had it all: Tons of focus on media, a Kinect demo, and a dance number! I'm not a fan of South Park whatsoever but even that segment was pretty funny, can't lie. Especially so when the creators took a shot at Microsoft in the middle of their own conference about the tech integration segment. From a technology standpoint that's cool but I have no use for it.

Oh, but was that you Ark that said from a technical standpoint things went well? I have to agree there. Can't think of any slip ups this time.

yeah, i think it was their best one in years (or probably ever) just in terms of "things going well"

as far as actually caring about what they showed? it blew. i mean, i can't wait for tomb raider, but that's not a 360 exclusive (i'll buy it on ps3 anyway). the only thing i'm really interested in in these press conferences are exclusives, and halo doesn't do it for me.

time for sony! they do a good job of focusing mostly on exclusives. should be good this year, hoping to hear more about the last of us (maybe a release date?). also think they'll have a fair amount of surprises to announce. that ps2/gaikai thing especially.
