Ark just gave you an example of a game that copied Metroid without being a straight rip off.
I was speaking generally about copying. It's edging toward a redundant debate since you could probably find an example for every game copying something.
when the graphics are cheaper to make and don't have to look all that much better, which results in more focus put on the conversation system, i think they could really do something great
I just wonder how bad the new stalker game will be. You just know it's going to be a reskinned Fallout. Won't even have to reskin all that much, just give everyone a russian accent. The stalker fanboys are making a huge stink about this.
yeah the engine worked fine for Oblivion, what, five years ago? it's starting to get pretty dated now.
You know what they really need to do? Use Dice's FrostBite lighting engine (the one used in BF3), and then use the Witcher 2 engine for animating/controlling/everything else, because goddam they have a good engineer in that game. The AI was totally retarded either, but from what I remember it was very scripted so that doesn't really count.

They should be, I don't know how broken Stalker games tend to be but literally everything Bethesda touches becomes a crippled mess of what might once have been a game. They will also completely miss the point of what a Stalker game is because lol Bethesda.
Fable was supposed to be very sim-y though from what I remember, with the whole raising a family and adventuring.
Skyrim was pretty good, but I think it's biggest downfall was how limited it was hardware wise, and the fact it had very little variation from one place to the next. Snow and pine trees! wheeeeee! There was a neat comparison of Morrowind dungeons, Oblivion dungeons, and Skyrim dungeons. Essentially with Morrowind it was like a big house. Many rooms, no one-path to go through it all, and multiple exits. Then Oblivion comes along, and it's more like "you can either go down path A, path B, or Path C, but you'll wind up at the same place anyway". then Skyrim comes along and it's literally just a single path, always leading straight back to the entrance. Their excuse though was because of the hardware, that they couldn't have these big elaborate dungeons because of it.

What do you mean the point of stalker?? Russians, radiation, AK47's, and Vodka is all you need! And enemies that go invisible!
