I spent $127 on 72 european AR cards. They're a different batch than the US so far, and many of the cards are selling for $10-$50 EACH. Hopefully I can make most if not all of my money back.
I just went to the grand opening of a video game store in my neighborhood. To my delight, it was totally retro. What stood out about this store was their huge selection of famicom, super famicom, and other japanese carts. I asked if they sold the japanese consoles, and they said no but showed me how to rig the NA consoles in order to play the JP carts. I had no idea that all you had to do was break out the tabs with a pair of pliers! Then after their enthusiastic demo for their potentially new customer, I dryly declared that 'I use emu for all that shit anyways.' Then I felt like an asshole so I came home and got high again.
There isn't a single thing at any E3 that can top the Ubisoft press conference a couple years ago. You could see Joel McHale's soul die a little with each new, stupid as hell thing he had to declare totally awesome. It was magical.
Oh god, when they introduced the lasergame thing... I was constantly muting and un-muting the sound throughout the whole show. Part of me couldn't bear to watch, part of me had to see what happened next.
He was pretty bad, but seeing a guy paid to say good things about a bunch of products that are clearly shit visibly regret every single word he says is pretty rare. And hilarious as it turns out.
