age2 rise of nations warhammer 40k dawn of war starcraft empire earth company of heroes warcraft3 galactic battlegrounds supreme commander command and conquer Dune2 Dungeon Keeper 2
this is what i remember right now
y'know? real-time, resource and unit management, non-rush based if possible...
i will really need to go back to supreme commander 2!?
games like star wars: battlegrounds kinda fit into my needs too
Unit selection limit? Hehe, you just select your units, tell them to follow a unit, then put the unit they're following another selection, and tell it to follow another unit, etc.
I know what you mean, though, as I've played them to death too. I recently played through Syndicate again, and it's always a cool play, if you want something a little different.
it's funny because WoW is way less grindy than the Final Fantasies, and it has way more story too. The above looks like it would be very boring if it was just single player.

Starcraft 2? IMO, it's the best RTS of that type (resource collecting/base building/army controlling) that has been released in several years. It might fail on the "non rush based" part through, depending on your definition of that. A rush is always a possibility in SC2, but if you play safely you can generally defend yourself and turn it into a longer game. I prefer it like that tbh, if early rushes were not viable the first 10 minutes of a game would just be dull and boring instead. This way you're kept on your toes.

no one said we don't want it to be multi-player, we don't want it to be a MMO, imagine the chaos it would be in a voxel based MMO... 5 seconds with the server online the world would be transformed into a flatland with lots of PKs all around...
i still want it to be multiplayer, but i prefer to play it with 4 or 5 friends than with lot's of annoying random ppl.
PS: WoW is prolly the ONLY MMO that have any story that is not completely negligible.
