One shall stand, one shall ball.
Oh hahaha yeah that one, thing I have that saved actually.
Wait, as far as I knew only Blaster Bombs could take out the exterior walls of the UFO.
And if you've run into Mutons before then you have more experience with the game than I thought Kesvalk. Thought this was your first time playing or that you hadn't gotten that far before.

then i got a heavy explosive, and just blew a hole in the hull right behind them with my tank and 2 rocket launchers....
it's possible it was them that i fell in love with the game...

Yeah making your own doors is fun, I've captured a few alien leaders be shooting open the wall in their little command centers in their UFOs.

well, i am sure i made a hole on that thing, and it was very early in the game, i think it was with heavy explosives, i could be wrong anyway

no, i play this game for YEARS, like, i have 24 now, i think since 8 years old i am playing this game... i just can't finish it...

Scary thing is that I was watching that video again recently with all of this X-COM talk going on and there's at least 2-3 MORE of them just off screen to the right in the buildings.

I think xcomutil has an option to make High Explosives breach UFOs, might have been on at the time. Or it could have been an interior wall and he's misremembering, could also just have been a random bugged event, weird things happen sometimes in this game.

You know, we should just go and make an X-COM topic one of these days with how much discussion we have about it. I do feel bad about clogging up everything with it from time to time since there's only a handful of people who pitch in with the conversations. (Then again, it's not like other topics haven't gone on a long train of thought for a few pages, so who knows.)
And yeah, I know with XCOMUtil it can be done since I remember seeing that option when I set it up to fix the difficulty bug. Normally they can't though.

i just checked, it WAS a terror ship...
Indie Lover
and i just discovered i never saw a small recon ship... NEVER... my games always start with large scouts... i aways thought that was the smallest ship in the game...
Yeah, terror ships and battleships are the ones you need to fear pretty much all the time, both on and off the ground. Don't remember if a Terror has enough range on its weapons to hit you even with Avalanches, but I'm pretty sure Battleships can.

Yep, two classes smaller than the plus sign large scouts. You'll rarely see the small scout on the ground though because of how easily it get destroyed.

They aren't very common. They also blow up instantly if you hit them with anything.

Plasma can do it, so Avalanches can. Don't know how well they would do damage wise, though.

Oh, and since you have more experience I'll put up that image again I was just talking about. So glad I kept it and the accompanying video of my disaster. Too bad I missed a whole turn and half of one of theirs since I forgot to unpause the recording, but luckily I got the massacre at the end.

Doh... let me try again. I can't add an attachment when modifying a post?

Here we go:

this image is almost poetic y'know? i take that the zombies are soon to be Crysalids right?

it's like having two cyber disk behind your ship... you get out, you die...
One shall stand, one shall ball.
The Not Enough Time Units banner is what really makes it magical.

Nope it's over, no running. X-COM.
Yeah, zombies become more Chryssalids once enough damage has been done unless you use a special ammo type.

And like I said, there's at least 2-3 more Chryssalids just off to the right in the shadows. Superhuman is nuts.
Indie Lover
this is one of that things that makes you want to stop playing...

of course you go back to it after some months...
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Nah it's one of those things that make you laugh at the complete clusterfuck of a mission and rebuild. It's the brutal missions that really keep you going.
Oh yeah, I kept playing that game but then lost later when my only base was overrun soon after a disastrous mission. Never stood a chance.

I had started a new one at the beginning of December but that wasn't going much better what I remember of it. Haven't gone back to it since SWTOR came out but I think I was just entering March and had already had a full party wipe during a terror mission.
I've debated about doing something with that video as a sort of "Here's what not to do during a terror mission/THIS is why everyone is afraid of Chryssalids" but I never did anything with it.

Yay...

strangely enough, i never lost a terror mission, most of the time i win with one or two rookies still alive...
i tend to lose often because i lose all of my interceptors and don't have money to buy new ones... then i just restart...

PS: i really want to see this video...

On the subject of X-COM I found this image recently that is another perfect example of how the game works.
