And these are the guys selling games... Brick wall Not doing Gamestop any favors by driving away customers are they?

My thoughts exactly.  They are salesmen.  They are there to make sales of video games.  The most money being spent on video games at the time I went there probably was all about wii crapware that they wouldn't be caught dead playing, and instead of being excited about the surge in gaming popularity and what it might mean for the industry, they are laughing at people.  Elitist little shits.

well to be fair that game has still got just about the best visuals of any game i've ever seen. there's no way the wii could handle it without it looking like modern warfare 3 does on wii.

can play it on ps3 with the move which works even better than re4's wii controls too.

I did end up getting a copy of re5 for ps3, but traded it in later without playing it.  I just prefer the point-n-shoot so much vs using the control stick to move the reticule that I didnt want to play it I guess.  Same with the primes.  I tried to play it on GCN after trilogy came out and I just didnt like it.

I guess I just really care much more about gameplay than I do about graphics.  I've tried too many games with amazing graphics that were shitty and boring.

well like i said it works great with the ps move but i guess you'd need that too

Aww yeah brown and bloom.

i'll give you that but it still looks incredible

I'm hoping that the Wii U, with it being an HD system, can put an end to some of that by allowing most multiplatform games to be available on all 3 consoles relatively easily.

Control scheme might be the bigger obstacle.

slide pads on a console controller, aw yeahh
I remember playing RE4 for about 5 minutes in one of my college classes (not lying - we were studying game mechanics or something, don't remember) and I actually had fun with it. From the little I played and what I remember of that, I can see how a pointer would work so much better with a game like that.

Personally I don't mind either pointers or dual analog and can use both pretty well, but I think I prefer pointers/mouse in most cases since it feels faster/more accurate. (This is especially evident when playing MP Trilogy since Prime and Echoes weren't built for a pointer and the combat is so much easier because of having it.)

i like pointers when they're just pointers - when they're used to actually turn your character i start to hate them. see: metroid prime 3.

Gotta love Mouse & Keyboard, best FPS controls since what like Quake 2?

I'm still waiting for someone to invent a mouse level speed and precision system for a console.

It already exists, called USB.

Haha, ok well then I mean games that support a mouse or a device with similar speed and precision ...unless I'm missing something and I could have been playing all of my PS3 games with a mouse and keyboard all of these years.
Strange.  I visited Intelligent System's website to see which games they have worked on, and if you scroll down it shows metroid and super metroid.

yeah they helped with those games. nintendo owns them, nintendo does that a lot, albeit more these days than in the past.

This is what I used to think. However I worked out solutions on the software-side which make this desire obsolete. You will have better navigation-control than in Modern Warfare(which by now has the best fps-navigation-model on consoles).

However it will be some time when I come up with a 3D game with an fps-layer in it. Because you know, there are just certain ideas in 2D-space I want to complete first.

obviously the solution is a bulky controller with a giant screen in the middle of it
nope. Just a regular xbox360-controller.
Super Secret Area - Dead Ahead!
I don't mind if games want to include a help feature for when you die a lot.  Things like in New Super Mario Bros. (Wii) and (what I'm referring to) Donkey Kong Country Returns, where after so many deaths you get a helper waving a flag at you, asking if you'd like the computer to play the level for you.  I understand it, but being an old-school player, I feel that dying is part of the learning experience.  You play, you die, you learn, you move on.  So, please allow me to turn the annoying fucker off if I don't want to use it!  I was getting really frustrated on a level earlier, not because I was dying, but because every time I did, I had some pathetic, porcine prick pestering to play the pigging part posing problems!  Piss off, pig! Evil or Very Mad

I remember him waving that flag a lot in the K levels that you unlock for getting all of the KONG letters in a world. Those can be pretty brutal in single player the first time around especially if you don't have a trusty jet-pack wielding partner with you at all times.

Looks like after ~2 years I finally got into the Path of Exile beta. Can't wait to try it out tonight, from the things I've seen it looks like it'll be my Diablo fix until Diablo 3 actually comes out.
I don't know what color cycling is, but apparently it makes it possible to make the best looking 8-bit stuff I have ever seen.

http://www.effectgames.com/demos/canvascycle/
Color cycling is just taking several colors in a palette and shifting them around to give the illusion of movement. But yeah, those demos are pretty. They would have been perfect for old school point & click adventure games.
Wow, those are amazing indeed. You're right, I could see them in those old adventure games too now that you mention it. There's a certain visual quality to these images that would fit those beautifully. (Simple looking at first, but full of color and detail if you stop to look for a moment kinda thing.)
They're very lord-of-the-ringsy.

Shame nearly all of them were water.  It's a great effect, however, and I'd love to see a new wave of point 'n' clicks incorporating it.
Yeah I did notice that most of the effect was for water and/or weather, although I did notice some glowing crystals in one of them after a minute.
