i also don't get excited about buying a new album anymore ... i just download it and add it to my massive collection that i will never have time to listen to
i know that one's my fault though and tbh i wouldn't have it any other way, but you know
Took a class on this last semester. We had some interesting discussions that ultimately proved to be little more than vague philosophizing. Is the Internet going to do away with individuality, the worth of information, etc.
yeah heh i don't really like to get philosophical because it's hard to say how something that affects me will affect others, but it's definitley been a mindfuck over the past year or so in larger ways for me
nah, without internet we wouldn't had things like the Egyptian rebelion and no one would not even know some really nasty laws the internet helped to block...
of course Einstein made the relativity law thinking about ppl using it for the good of humanity, and humanity made the A-bomb with it...
TL:DR, it don't matter if you made something good, someone will find a way to fuck ppl up with it...
Sure, it was a resource people used, it has value. But given that the government could, and I believe actually did, shut it down and various uprising throughout history it was hardly vital.
Shutting down the internet couldn't stop the Egyptian revolution once it had started. But would it have started and gotten big in the first place without the internet? Perhaps not, at least not yet. Sometimes people rebel against terrible governments... sometimes they don't. And the internet can help to facilitate that process in many ways.
