Quote from tomatobob:
It didn't necessarily help in the sense that similar types of people from a much larger pool than schools could ever draw from could find each other and mindlessly agree with the various malformed ideas that popped out of their still developing brains resulting in the perception that these are totally normal and cool ways to live and act. But it's done some good in the same sort of ways so it's kind of a wash.

I think for me personally it's been largely positive, since I've tended to "hang out" online with people older and occasionally more mature. That and building up relationships with people that have started purely online is still really neat in my mind.

I am a literal Buddhist monk irl.

If you shaved your head and got an orange robe you'd probably look pretty sharp.
What'd you say?
Quote from tomatobob:
All people are bigots after all, except you. You are the special angel in the sea of darkness.

I'll make my example easier for you to follow. I despise those who are anti-gay. Therefore, I am the problem.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Ok I'm just being mean now so let me go back.

Using that logic, the bigots are their own problem. Because they choose to view themselves and others in that way. They are not your problem or "people's" problem. Others are right to counter their hateful nonsense when it comes up if they take an approach that is meant as educational and helpful because that chosen view is harmful to others. Hating them doesn't do anyone any good and takes effort that could be used for constructive things.

If you extend this to people on the whole you are devoting a great deal of effort into nothing worth anything. If that is the approach you want to take to life than that's up to you, but understand that in doing so you have made a choice and everything you see will be colored by that choice and no one else's. You are the reason you hate them, you don't have to agree with them, consider their views acceptable or even particularly like them, but you also don't have to hate them. You choose to.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Not saying you're wrong, just that you have more control than you think.

tl;dr gotta live and let live, hippie style, ya know? They can hate and miss out on the fun if they want, but don't let them turn you into a hater too.

some pretty good improv commentary on this. They really need to throw some snow maps in there though.

Yeah the internet is pretty neat, it's like any kind of communication it can do some bad and some good but the positives tend to outweigh the negatives.

Don't tempt me.

hippies seem cool until you realize they're actually just extremely selfish, depressed losers
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Yeah but they're super baked all the time so they've got that going for them.
red chamber dream
part of why they're so depressed lol

it's a bunch of people who don't want to do anything to help themselves so they try to legitimize it through bullshit philosophy. same with rastafaris
One shall stand, one shall ball.
I have to imagine that there's at least one or two who are legitimately happy and totally living the dream. Good for them I guess.
One shall stand, one shall ball.
Then again I've never encountered a hippy in the wild so maybe they really are all just the high school stoner crowd.

you're too far south I think. The more north you go, the mexican ranks start (slowly) sliming down in numbers, but they're replaced with hippies. Loud noises and large structures appears to ward them off though. Unfortunately for Santa Cruz we don't have nearly enough of that. And I think the climate is more well adjusted for them up here, but I don't know their mating habits.

Hmm you may be right, southern California seems like an ideal location for hippies as it for all humans but LA county is pretty commercial which would be off putting to a proper hippy.

Maybe I'm just cynical, I've always hated people and I doubt that'll change any time soon.
It's because you hate yourself.
What'd you say?

Not really sure how you were aware of this but yes, I do consider myself my own worst enemy.

how come?
What'd you say?
I seem to always undermine every attempt I have to better myself or any situation I'm in. I have so many qualities (laziness being a prime example) about myself that I despise, yet every attempt I make to rectify them is futile. In a way I feel trapped, it's quite hard to explain. But this is the hand I was dealt, might as well make do, eh?

ah yeah, I feel the same way about a lot of those same things. I have next to no motivation to do anything for anything, almost a full-time NEET at this point. I think I used to hate myself, not sure when or why that stopped. I think after awhile of hating you just get kinda used to it. Or maybe it's just my overpowering apathy for everything that helped.

and in gaming related topicness, Dark Souls for the PC is apparently maxed out at 30FPS and the renderer will only render out at 1024 x 720. Jesus christ how awful. I wonder why Japanese game devs can't into PC.
Keeping it fixed at 30 fps is the most reasonable thing they can do. Variable fps will mess up the game-mechanics.

btw. I love the artistic touch of the game.
