Man I wish they'd gone with sprites for the RoS remake, those models don't look super great.

Did- did they add parries to this game? Shiiiit I love parrying in video games. AM2R would have extremely benefited from letting me punch those fucking Zeta Metroids outta my face and stun them so I could shoot their dumb tiny weak spot.

i'm not worried about the graphics. 3DS gammes all look terrible upsclaed for the big screen. It'll look better on console

Yeah, not gonna lie, a couple more action-y elements (if balanced okay) would make the Metroid fights pretty interesting. Depends how much they lift wholesale from the original vs. how much they remake. Like, ZM had a lot of overhauled content, especially as opposed to a bunch of hallways and vertical shafts that were copy and pasted in the original.

I have a fair bit of confidence in this remake based entirely on ZM being so good.

Polygonal 3DS games are all p ugly, it's real good for sprites though, so they should do that more.

Side note: I'm actually pretty excitied to have Prime 4 being developed in-house at Nintendo. The teams that they've created to revitalize Zelda and Mario are excellent and I put my faith in them.

Watching all the gameplay footage of SR has me so excited for the game. I absolutely love that you have 360 degree firing. It looks like there are several melee moves. I'm really hoping that they add an unexpected twist at the 'end' of the game like they did when they remade the original metroid. Like when you take the baby metroid back to your ship and think it's over, something happens that makes you realize that there's a lot more game left.
I also hope there's tons of hidden passages and a really clever layout like ZM.

One thing someone brought up is that you can't shoot and move at the same time, I seriously hope it's not true but I don't actually remember from the gameplay footage.

That would really suck. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to run and shoot in all directions except backwards (the opposite direction you're running in). Add a button to hold that makes samus stationary when you want to aim all around without moving, but otherwise the circle pad should make you move and aim simultaneously.

You'd think there are enough buttons on 3DS where having a "lock movement for aim" feature would not be too bad to control. I do foresee SR having clunkier controls than the hyper buttery fluid feel of AM2R but hopefully the obvious points are still addressed.

Watching the trailer, I don't see them ever running and shooting. I do see them shooting in mid air. There's a long clip of gameplay from the reveal presentation that I need to watch, but I don't want to because spoilers. I watched the first 5 mins of it and she never runs and shoots, but she does kind of suck so it's possible that she is locking movement to aim every time she wants to shoot and never fires while she's running because that's just too complicated.

Well especially in the first five minutes she was super concentrated on showing off the 360-degree free aim because it's new to this game. Which again is not a huge issue as long as you can still shoot straight ahead (and up?) while still moving around.

I hope that you can aim freely with the circle pad while running. The range while running left would be limited to all degrees that are still to the left, because once you press up or right at all then you would no longer be running left. In other words, of you press diagonally up and to right while firing, then samus will fire diagonally up while running to the right. But of course there should be a button that while held will make samus stop running and just aim, which will allow you to aim in all directions.

The game feels fantastic. Holding down the left trigger plants Samus' feet so she can aim in any direction and the X button performs a melee attack that can counter enemy attacks. The prompts to counter are clearly broadcasted with audio and visual cues, and though I missed the first few prompts, it did not take long to block and blast nearly every enemy that I attacked.

Yeah, what I'm hearing now is that only the free aim locks you in place while otherwise you can run and gun.

Can you move the circle pad up down to aim while running though? That would be best. You would have to use L and stop if you wanted to utilize the full range, of course.
