but if you're playing online multiplayer, your switch by definition would already be connected to the internet. there's no excuse for this bizarre and stupid business decision.
I've never once communicated with another person while playing a game anyways. That's a private time for me where I do not want to be disturbed. At all.
Yeah but you have to wait until 3/30, right? I would get physical if it weren't for that.
? i certainly don't think so - i haven't read that, and it's listed on amazon for 3 march. it does require like a 3 gb install though which is fine by me
It said that on the official site at first. It said 03/03 for Wii U digital and 03/30 for Wii U physical. Now it just says 'Check with your retailer' for the physical ver on the official site. Retailers show it at 03/03 as launch date. I wonder if they did that just to beef up Switch pre-orders?
OK my sweetie and I are having an argument. He says Ocarina of Time is the only game he's ever played that had a targeting system. In this case, it's called Z-targeting. This is complete nonsense because off the top of my head EVERY game I own that has a 3D environment has some sort of targeting system except RE4 that allows you to put your character's focus on person/object and toggle between them. He swears none of his games do. The games he plays are dishonored 1&2, assassins creed series, fallout (he says targeting is available ONLY for long range weapons), skyrim, deus ex, halo, and many more. I don't play any of these so I wouldn't know, but I cannot grasp what he's telling me. Dishonored, a game that afaik is great for those who love stealth, he says you can only interact with a specific enemy by standing right next to them with your character FACING them. If the idea of stealth is to not be seen, it seems strange to me that you have to stand right next to an enemy. Anyways, do you guys play any of these games and can you confirm that there is no targeting system of any kind that allows you to direct your character's focus to an enemy or object?
The Bethesda games you mentioned don't have a targeting system per se, with the possible exception of VATS in Fallout (kind of a slow-mo, ultra-high-accuracy attack mode). You don't have to be RIGHT NEXT to an enemy to interact depending on how many ranged options you have but there's not much that would be analogous to Z-targeting. Having auto-targeting in Halo might kind of defeat the whole purpose. For AC, there is definitely a targeting/lock-on mechanic, maybe that just doesn't count for what he's talking about.
Have him play Kingdom Hearts, almost every installment has a targeting system very similar to 3D Zelda.
Maybe that's why I hate most of the games he plays.
But the funny thing is, he has played a bunch of games that DO have it (prime series, god of war series, luigis mansion, other 3d zeldas) and he swears that they DON'T have it.

ocarina of time invented that, you know
Yes and that's one of the reasons why it was so influential. TR on PC was the first game I played that actually had a 3D environment that felt right. Not sure if it came out before Ocarina, but the targeting system was automatic - you just get your guns out. Auto-targeting is much less desirable that manual, imo. Like in Prime, zelda, etc. You can use it or not use it.

some of the AC games sort of have it. but in general i'd say it's not too terribly common
Yeah I could have sworn when I played the pirate one for a few hours that I was able to toggle between enemies when there was a crowd of them. Can't you do that in the batman games? He plays the crap out of those.
