So tomorrow Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3 releases on Wii U, and they've added in all of the eReader extra levels, including ones never released in the west before. Not only is that great in and of itself, but it's a good sign that Nintendo might finally be starting to get it.
2016 should be an interesting year for sure. it all depends on whether kimishima gets it. nintendo needs to recognize their greatest value is in their software (and always has been). hopefully once they realize that, they'll release their entire back catalog on nx or whatever they call it.
Between this and them retrofitting online into Pokemon RBY, I have high hopes that they're a least grasping what the actual appeal of the Virtual Console is.
Maybe we'll finally get a version of Donkey Kong with the pie level sometime.
I've actually heard a lot from reliable people talking about how the NX will have interaction with things like smart phones as well as home PCs, and even the PS4.
Nintendo has also made some pretty interesting patents lately too, I'll see if I can dig it out
I also recall Iwata reiterating about how the new system will shock and surprise us, and be totally unique. Could just be marketing talk, but usually he didn't get wrapped up in that sort of thing.
To be fair he did say the same about the Wii with the motion controls, but that definitely forced Microsoft and Sony to throw in some of that functionality, so it'll be interesting to see what happens
I'm sure whatever it is, Sony and Microsoft are very curious. Although if the rumors are true that it'll have some sort of possible interaction with the PS4, Sony might know a lot more than we realize
Can you imagine though if Nintendo and Sony were semi-partnering for this? I mean hell we already have Cloud in Super Smash, maybe we're going to see some more friendly business moves between the two
on the other hand it would be pretty hilarious if Sony doesn't have any idea what the fuck Nintendo is planning and is just as confused as we are about possible PS4 interaction
