Quote from Opium:
I didn't know that there was an actual game that came with mario maker.  I have to wonder how good it is because they seem to be marketing the level editor only.

About as good as Little Big Planet I'd imagine. (Read: trash)

Quote from Opium:
I don't believe that the features you have to wait for are unfinished.

Eh they apparently did the same kinda thing with Splatoon, some modes/features were inaccessible for a while and got "unlocked" later when they were done iirc. Maybe it's Nintendo's new thing.

I honestly don't see why you're defending them so hard.

Because he has moods where he loves conflict.

no that's just my opinion. "gamers" love to make a big deal out of shit that does not matter
But to have them scheduled to release one day at a time over a week because they aren't finished seems weird.

That's true, you definitely have to consider the source.

opium if you're not interested in the level editor or playing levels other people design, don't buy the game. it's clearly not for you. the game IS the level editor. making and sharing levels is the entire point of the game.
If that's all it is then I won't unless my opinion is influenced by people who generally like the same things I do.

When I complained that that's all it is, you said there was more to consider.  Now you're saying there really isn't more I should consider?

i mean, if 60 custom levels alone are worth $60 to you. i thought you were at least somewhat interested in the editor though
red chamber dream
because like, you know, why else would you be asking about it

the game is called super mario maker lol
I was slightly interested until I saw the $60 price tag.  Then I became slightly more interested when you told me about the 60 levels, but I don't know enough about the value of those 60 levels yet to gauge whether I want to pay $60 for it.
red chamber dream
i'm just going to buy it when it's like $30 to play the levels
That might take a very long time.  SM3DW is still $60 and it's been out for like 2 years now.
red chamber dream
i mean used
Oh. Well it's still $45 used.
red chamber dream
eh it'll go down over time

somehow i think lots of people will want to sell their old wii u games in a couple years

so I've been putting a bit of money away slowly over time into a fun-spending account and haven't really thought about buying something until I saw this picture. I decide to check out how much I have saved to see how much I'll need to save to get it, and it turns out I have almost 2 grand, so I'mma buy a kickass 2880 x 1080 monitor

Guys, if you don't want to wait 9 days for the Mario Makes stuff to unlock, just change your system date. I'm like 90% sure that will work.

poision yummy. if i didn't use an imac i'd be all over that shit too, never had a really nice external display
SO many Link cosplayers out there, most terrible.  This is the best one I have seen:

People with early review copies of Mario Maker are confirming that you can unlock everything on day 1 by playing with the system clock. You can't just jump ahead 9 days, you have to go to each individual day and play for 5 minutes before jumping to the next one, but it is doable.
Club 27 Goals
Well that is great to hear at least. I might not like the idea of it, but at least you can bypass it.
I'm glad there's a way around it but I still say it's a weird choice.  Nobody likes having to do that in any game.  A few weeks ago I did it like 200 times on phanton hourglass while trying to get all the gold ship parts.  Screw having the game read the system date/time for anything.

It would be more excusable in my mind if you could unlock additional features through play instead of a hard timed release.  Like, it never bothered me that I had to unlock additional characters in SSB because I was being rewarded for playing the game.  But could you imagine if, no matter how much you played Smash after purchasing it, new characters would be unlocked only according to a rigid schedule over a couple weeks?

This may be relevant here.

Super Metroid really doesn't need a remake though. It still holds up today in absolutely every aspect. Metroid II is still the only one that it makes sense to remake.

If they really wanted Metroid back on track though, it'd be as simple as making a new 2D game in Super Metroid style and releasing it for $20 or so digitally. Indie sprite-based Metroid-likes are lighting it up right now, so one from Nintendo themselves would be cash money in the bank.

plus, they already made it. metroid prime = super in 3d.
